OPPORTUNITY

Precision Construction Services is looking for an experienced and motivated individual to join our team as a General Superintendent. The ideal candidate must be familiar with a wide range of work sites, cost structures, and project types.

The overarching goal for the General Superintendent will be to ensure contracted projects are managed efficiently and effectively as Precision continues to grow. This will require the General Superintendent to forecast operational needs, develop in-house talent, support the retention of personnel, and collaborate with company verticals such as Business Development, Finance, and Human Resources.

The day-to-day role of the General Superintendent will include working with senior leadership and project teams to develop, implement, and manage operational policies and procedures. The General Superintendent will be the point person to interpret the intent set by senior leadership to the field and provide advice to support decision making. The General Superintendent will implement training programs, policies, and procedures.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Safety

Play a supporting role to the Safety Manager, ensuring all field personnel are following company policy. This role will be a liaison, providing feedback to the Safety Manager to address concerns. The General Superintendent will be the embodiment of company safety culture and influencing other staff members to do the same.

Scheduling

Assess all field labor needs by overseeing the Resource Allocation Control System (RACS) spreadsheet to ensure availability of labor and product. This role will collaborate with Construction Division Manager to understand upcoming resource needs and manage project-related resources and assist project teams with scheduling, procurement, and subcontractor performance. 

Cost Control

Oversee all material procurement for field operations including but not limited to project-specific material acquisition, Safety supplies and utilization rates. This role will be pivotal in assisting senior leadership and preconstruction staff with developing job costs vs. overhead and in developing appropriate rates for GC’s and GR’s

Document Control

Maintain and continually develop policies and procedures and train individuals on proper documentation of construction projects. 

Preconstruction

Partake in “Project Kickoff Meetings” with Preconstruction Manager to review project scope and buyout options presented and assist project teams in determining the best approach.

Business Development

Represent Superintendent staff at project pursuits and client meetings.

Human Resources / Talent

Supporting the acquisition, development, and retention of Precision employees - specifically, project team members.

Quality Control

Maintain and continually develop company-wide quality control procedures with the help of senior level Superintendents and Project Managers.

REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field – civil/structural engineering and/or construction management
  • 10-15 years’ experience as a Superintendent
  • Strong project scheduling and review skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail
  • Proficiency with project management software such as Procore
  • Familiarity with construction practices, construction management, cost estimating, and related procedures
  • Experience with vendor management
  • Willingness to travel occasionally as needed based on business demand
