PRECISION SWISS PRODUCTS is Hiring a Driver/Shipping Assistant Near Milpitas, CA

Description

Summary: The Driver/Shipping Assistant position plays an instrumental role in on-time delivery and customer service for Precision Swiss Products (PSP). This position is responsible for making deliveries to customers, picking up products from vendors, and running business related errands. The Shipping Assistant monitor and maintains packing supplies, packages parts to Customers specifications with high quality standards. As a representative of the company, the driver/Shipping Assistant must enter all facilities with a professional appearance and attitude. When not driving or shipping, this position will assist with operating the saw, and serve as a back-up for Finishing.

Driving Responsibilities: 

· Drive to local customers and vendors to pick up and drop off parts 

· Transfer parts and/or material with care and follow any instructions for special handling

· Run errands for the company, including but not limited to: making deposits/withdrawals at the bank, picking up office supplies, picking up shop supplies, and taking shipments to FedEx or UPS

· Keep the truck clean, inside and out

· Take truck through a car wash approximately once every two weeks 

· Perform monthly self-inspection on truck (fluid levels, tire pressure, tire wear, etc.)

· Ensure fuel level never falls below ¼ of a tank

Shipping Responsibilities:

· Review the shipping list with Shipping Coordinator to ensure you are prepared for the day and week ahead 

· Set up packaging materials (e.g. boxes, foam sleeves, etc.) ahead of time to prepare for upcoming shipments

· Package parts to customer specifications

· Monitor packaging supply inventory to assure supplies are well stocked

· Count parts and hardware individually and/or by scale for packaging, inventory, and assembly kits

· Work with Shipping Coordinator, QA, Outside Process Purchasing Agent and Assembly department to ensure shipping deadlines are being met

· Update shipping routing/packaging information for quantities, methods, etc. and for training purposes assist with creating visual work instructions

· Responsible for staging and pulling FGI inventory when needed and keeping inventory and stock areas organized and clean following the 6S methodology

· Assist with the creation of packaging requirements for new parts. Work with the Process Engineer and/or Director of Operations

· Follow all company policies

· Follow all Quality policies and procedures to ensure the output of your work and your team’s work, maintains the quality management system and continually improves its effectiveness

· Actively engage with the quality team to ensure the work you are producing is conforming to the customer, regulatory and statutory requirements

Saw Operation Responsibilities:

· Operate the saw in accordance with company safety policies and applicable procedures

· Handle with sensitivity and maintain organization and traceability of material that is staged for and/or comes off the saw

· Log saw jobs in and out of the ERP system for appropriate routing step

Additional Responsibilities: 

  • Assist in Finishing department with cleaning parts before submitting to QA for final inspection
  • Assist with data entry if needed
  • Driving to drop off packaged when needed at various locations
  • 6S Participation
  • Attend meetings as required
  • Assist with on-the-job trainings that may take place in your department
  • Ensure you have completed all assigned trainings for your position per your training plan

Requirements

Knowledge and Skills Required:
