Overview

Lead UX/UI Designer

Hybrid | Washington D.C. | 2-3 days a week Onsite

Active TS/SCI Clearance Required

Summary

Our client is an employee and Service-Disabled, Veteran-owned Small Business focused on providing niche technical services. They are a team of experienced cybersecurity professionals with a track record of success in the Federal, Commercial, and Academic workspaces. Additionally, our client designs, builds, operates, and secures scalable cloud and IT infrastructures to meet their customers’ near-term needs and fulfill their long-term requirements.

Responsibilities

Our client is seeking a talented and experienced Lead UX/UI Designer to spearhead their design initiatives, focusing on creating intuitive and user-friendly digital experiences for their federal client. The ideal candidate will be an expert in human-centered design principles, with a strong background in developing personas and journey maps within Agile development environments.

  • Lead the UX/UI design process from concept to delivery, ensuring the creation of engaging, user-centric designs that meet the needs of the end-users and align with project objectives
  • Implement human-centered design principles to conduct user research, create personas, and develop comprehensive journey maps that guide design decisions
  • Facilitate design thinking workshops and collaborative sessions with stakeholders and team members to gather insights, define requirements, and ideate solutions
  • Work closely with Agile development teams, participating actively in sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives to ensure design priorities are integrated into development cycles
  • Establish and promote UX/UI best practices and design standards to ensure consistency and quality across all digital platforms
  • Create and maintain a user experience design system, including style guides, design patterns, and user interface components to streamline design and development processes
  • Mentor and guide junior designers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth within the design team

Requirements

  • 10 years of overall UX/UI experience 
  • Proven experience as a Lead UX/UI Designer, with a strong portfolio showcasing expertise in user-centered design and successful digital products
  • Extensive experience working within Agile development environments, with a deep understanding of Agile principles and practices
  • Strong foundation in human-centered design principles, with demonstrated experience in creating personas, user journeys, and journey maps
  • Proficiency in design and prototyping tools (e.g., Sketch, Adobe XD, Figma, InVision) and familiarity with front-end development technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript)
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate complex requirements into simple, intuitive design solutions
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a track record of building strong relationships with cross-functional teams and stakeholders

Preferred Requirements

  • Familiarity with federal client environments and requirements is a plus
  • A Bachelor's degree is preferred
