IT Infrastructure Project Manager

Hybrid | Richmond, VA | 2-3 Days a Week Onsite

Summary

Our client is is a leading application Engineering Consulting firm in the Washington, D.C. metro region specializing in Management Services, Technology Solutions and Facilities Services. They partner with and assist Federal, State and local government agencies; private sector Energy Services Companies (ESCOs); and Commercial entities in the design and implementation of their various Engineering and Technology related projects. Additionally, they are able to leverage an engineering team with proven technology industry experience that resulted in multi-million-dollar contracts within federal government, state & local government clients!

Responsibilities

Our client is looking for an IT Infrastructure Project Manager PMP to manage and deliver complex IT projects involving multiple teams and workstreams, coordinated to meet an aggressive delivery schedule. Under the program manager, the project manager will ensure the successful outcome of the assigned projects, adhering to the Commonwealth Standard for Project Management through all project phases: PreSelect, Initiation, Planning, Execution and Control, and Closeout.

• Serve as a hands-on technical project manager with development staff and business groups
• Coordinate and communicate with ITD management and staff to coordinate work tasks and resourcing
• Communicate timelines and expectations to technical and business staff
• Collaborate with vendors, consultants, and contractors in the execution of projects including contract management and working with the procurement office(s)
• Adhere to VDOT and VITA project management practices and governance requirements; coordinate with VDOT and VITA Project Management Offices
• Maintain project budget, plans, tasks, schedules, risks, and status and disseminate information to team members and customers as defined in the communications plan
• Ensure documentation of requirements and use cases, facilitate design workshops for assigned projects
• Ensure definition of test objectives, designed test plans and test cases for assigned projects
• Provide the management of project milestones and deliverables for on-time and on-budget delivery
• Define, measure, and clearly communicate progress with metrics
• Support system and application training efforts

Requirements

• 5 years of project experience in IT infrastructure delivery, Network infrastructure, Network architecture, wireless technologies, Cloud implementation, and vendor management
• Familiarity with telecommunications, network technologies, network standards and practices
• Manage projects consisting of network switches, routers, firewalls, load balancers, VPN, fiber optics, and internet services
• Experience in modern fabric-based networks - Network Fabric, underlay, overlay, and SD WAN; Experience with VoIP infrastructure is a plus
• Experience managing large, multi-stream projects
• Experience in reviewing carrier bid feedback and presenting carrier/circuit recommendations to the Management Committee for approval
• Work with cross-functional IT teams to identify/extend, enable, and deliver a scalable, secure, reliable, and cost-effective cloud solution that can be managed and delivered
• Responsibility for integrating technical knowledge and business knowledge to develop innovative solutions to automate projects activities
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, Visio, PowerPoint, Project Server)

Preferred Requirements

• Experience in both Agile and Waterfall project management is preferred

Education/Certification Requirements

• An Agile Scrum Master certification is required
• A PMP certification from PMI or PM certification from VITA is required - no other certification qualifies

Drivers License Requirements

• Applicants selected must have an appropriate driver's license valid in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
