In this role, the controller will handle high-level accounting, managerial accounting, and oversee the accounting staff and financial activities of the company. As head of the accounting department, the controller will manage and supervise all aspects of accounting including payroll, tax compliance, billing, financial statements, general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, budgeting, inventory accounting, cost accounting, revenue recognition, and various special analyses. This position reports to the chief financial officer and will assist with the development of internal control policies, procedures, and financial planning as needed

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain a documented system and guide financial decisions by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing policies and procedures. Implement a system of controls over accounting transactions to minimize risk.
  • Consistently analyze financial data and present financial reports in an accurate and timely manner; clearly communicate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements; monitor progress and changes and keep senior leadership abreast of company’s financial status.
  • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls and safeguards for receipt on revenue, costs, budgets and actual expenditures.
  • Oversee the operations of the accounting department, including the design of an organizational structure adequate for achieving the department's goals and objectives.
  • Prepare budgets and forecasts by establishing schedules; collecting, analyzing, and consolidating financial data; recommending plans. Report significant budget differences to management.
  • Oversee the production of periodic financial reports such as business reports, financial forecasts and statements to understand the financial state of business; ensures that the reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles and financial reporting standards.
  • Comply with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, anticipating future legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, filing financial reports, and advising management on needed actions
  • Leverage strengths of the current finance team members, help to clarify roles and responsibilities and develop and implement training programs in order to maximize and reach optimal individual and organizational goals
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal regulatory requirements and professional standards.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration with an emphasis in Accounting, or a related field.
  • Must have 5 to 10 years of experience in field.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) license a plus
  • Advanced computer skills, specifically in Excel. experience in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Exceptional knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, cost accounting and cost control principles, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Must possess strong mathematical skills such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentages.
  • Analytical ability to develop and implement improvements or recommendations.
  • Understanding of basic principles of finance, accounting, and bookkeeping.
  • Superb time management skills and detail orientation.
  • Exemplary history of financial project management.

COMPENSATION

Excellent compensation for candidate meeting all required skills and experience. Benefits include paid vacation and holidays, sick days, health, dental, and vision insurance.

Location: Onsite at our Clearwater headquarters. This is not a hybrid position.
