Summary:

As the Systems Engineering Director, you will be responsible for leading Powin’s customer facing engineering efforts supporting the design, development, and maintenance of complex energy storage systems within the Project Success organization. This position will oversee a team of subject matter experts, engineers, and technical staff, ensuring projects are correctly specified, planned, implemented, and maintained per customer requirements and Powin standards.

Job Details:

  • Lead a team of systems engineers, providing guidance, direction, and support to ensure projects are planned, implemented and maintained effectively and efficiently
  • Oversee the entire lifecycle of product and projects, from conception to completion, ensuring adherence to specifications and quality standards
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define system requirements and develop comprehensive system designs and architectures that meet customer requirements and availability standards
  • Possess a strong understanding of systems engineering principles, methodologies, and best practices, and stay abreast of advancements in technology and industry trends
  • Identify potential risks and issues related to system design, implementation and operation and develop strategies and product plans to mitigate these risks effectively
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including software developers, hardware engineers, project managers, and stakeholders, to ensure alignment and integration of system components
  • Establish and maintain quality assurance processes and procedures to ensure the reliability, performance, and scalability of systems
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the Project Success team, identifying opportunities to enhance efficiency, productivity, and effectiveness
  • Analyze field experience and customer feedback data to improve our products and solutions that include operation and maintenance of the installations
  • Drive Customer Facing product and project documentation and drawing packages
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred
  • 8 years of proven experience in systems engineering and product lifecycle management/support
  • 3 years of Energy Storage project execution/ product lifecycle support
  • 8 years in a managerial or leadership role
  • Certification in systems engineering (e.g., INCOSE CSEP) or project management (e.g., PMP) is a plus
  • Demonstrated experience in operations, analytics, application engineering, or project engineering. Preferably with battery systems, power generation, and/or power electronics equipment
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire team members to achieve project goals
  • In-depth knowledge of systems engineering principles, methodologies, and tools, with experience in system design, integration, and testing
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to identify root causes of issues and develop effective solutions
  • Proficiency in project management tools and methodologies, with experience managing complex, multi-disciplinary projects
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with diverse teams and stakeholders
  • Excellent written and verbal communications, explaining complex solutions to all levels of internal and external customers
  • Limited travel requirements
