Overview:

As an Engineering Manager at PowerSchool, you will lead a talented team of engineers responsible for developing new solutions projects, fulfilling customer sponsored development projects, and enhancing our Document Management platform. You will play a critical role in driving innovation, ensuring high-quality software delivery, and maintaining the stability and scalability of our production platforms. This position requires strong leadership skills, technical expertise, and a proven track record in managing scaled, production platforms with millions of users.

Responsibilities:

  • Team Leadership:
  • Lead and mentor a team of engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and excellence.
  • Provide guidance and support to team members, empowering them to achieve their full potential.
  • Project Management:
    • Oversee new solutions projects, customer-sponsored development utilization, and enhancements to the Document Management platform, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to quality standards.
    • Collaborate with product management and other stakeholders to define project requirements and priorities.
    • Manage customer-sponsored development team and ensure adherence to SDLC practices, quality standards, and delivery of customer projects within budget.
  • Technical Expertise:
    • Possess strong technical expertise in Node.js, TypeScript, React, and Angular.
    • Experience with AWS and DevOps practices, including infrastructure as code, continuous integration, and deployment automation.
  • Production Platform Management:
    • Manage scaled, production platforms critical to customer business operations with millions of users, ensuring stability, reliability, and scalability.
    • Proven ability to resolve outage issues quickly, with a focus on root cause analysis (RCA) post-outage to prevent recurrence.
  • Agile Methodology:
    • Familiarity with Agile and Scrum methodologies, ensuring that sprints are accurately pointed, releases are on time, and defects are limited.
    • Incorporate quality assurance engineers into sprints and define test strategies to support fast go-to-market development.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product management, design, QA, and customer support, to deliver impactful solutions that meet customer needs.
  • Continuous Improvement:
    • Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the engineering team, optimizing processes, and implementing best practices to enhance efficiency and quality.
Qualifications:

Qualifications include:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Proven experience as an Engineering Manager, with a track record of successfully managing teams in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong technical background with proficiency in Node.js, TypeScript, React, Angular.
  • Experience with AWS services and DevOps practices.
  • Experience with MongoDB, DynamoDB, and Elastic Search
  • Demonstrated ability to manage scaled, production platforms with millions of users, including resolving outage issues and conducting RCA.
  • Familiarity with Agile and Scrum methodologies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

A reasonable estimate of the base compensation range for this position is $152,000 $174,000. The compensation range is specific to the United States and incorporates many factors including but not limited to an applicants skills and prior relevant experience and training; licensures, degrees, and certifications; internal equity; internal pay ranges; and market data/range parameters.
