Powers & Sons Construction Company is seeking a Laborer/Carpenter. This position will play a significant role as a team member. This individual will provide support to the construction team.

Responsibilities:

· Read blueprints, drawings and sketches to fully grasp requirements

· Take measurements and calculate the size and amount of material needed

· Cut, shape and smooth lumber and other material (e.g. fiberglass) according to measurements

· Build window frames, doors, staircases and frame buildings by using raw materials or pre-constructed items

· Lay out flooring, roofing or drywall ensuring they are leveled and compatible

· Carve and assemble furniture, cabinets, shelves and other items and install them where designated

· Inspect places and conduct repairs or maintenance

· Build scaffolding and other construction structures

· Operate and care for construction equipment and machines.

· Help equipment operator, carpenters, and other skilled labor when necessary.

· Prep construction sites by cleaning obstacles and hazards and perform site clean-up.

· Load or unload construction materials.

· Put together and take apart temporary structures, such as scaffolding.

· Other duties as assigned

Qualifications/Skill Set:

· Proven experience as carpenter

· Hands-on experience in working with carpentry materials

· Excellent understanding of carpentry techniques and methods of installation and construction

· Proficient in using electrical and manual equipment and measurement tools (powered saws, hammers, rulers etc.)

· Ability to read technical documents and drawings

· Willingness to follow safety guidelines at all times

· Good physical condition and endurance

· High school diploma; Successful completion of a carpentry apprenticeship program is required

· Must have valid driver license.

· Ability to do physical labor and other strenuous physical tasks.

· Ability to work in all weather.

· Workers must be punctual and reliable.

· Must have experience as a general laborer in the construction industry.

· Able to work under pressure and maintain professionalism when faced with aggressive deadlines.

· A learning leader's mindset; welcomes training and coaching; and assumes responsibility for their own work.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $24.00 - $34.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
