Job Summary:

Power System Engineering, Inc. (PSE) is looking for a thoughtful, curious, and well-rounded individual who is excited about working on Solar Photovoltaic (PV) and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects through their feasibility, pre-construction, and construction phases with a specific focus on the electrical design aspects of projects in our Madison, WI or Blaine, MN offices. Responsibilities:

• Assist in designing and engineering commercial and utility-scale PV solar systems, energy storage projects, and microgrid projects between 100kW and 100MW in size - Projects include both standalone storage and storage plus solar
• Assist in performing electrical calculations to size equipment, cables, and conduits. Etc.
• Assist in developing construction documents using AutoCAD
• Assist in the development of detailed equipment specifications.
• Use commercial (ex., MS Excel) and engineering software to design Solar PV and BESS systems.
• Travel to project sites from time to time to gather site-specific data, as required
• Contributing to or writing technical papers and reports
• Produce site-specific production analysis of PV arrays using models such as PVSyst and Helioscope
• Assist in conducting system studies such as arc flash, load flow, short circuit, overcurrent coordination, and grounding studies.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience

• Pursuit of Electrical degree from an ABET-accredited program.
• Eligible to work in the United States without visa sponsorship.

Knowledge and Skills 

• Ability to become familiar with AutoCAD, PVsyst, SKM, ETAP, and SEL Relays.
• Ability to become familiar with industry-standard design codes such as NEC, International Building Codes, International Fire Codes, and other standards relevant to the industry a plus.

• Strong project management skills and ability to prioritize work and resources.

• Ability to work and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
