Power System Engineering is Hiring a Transmission Studies Engineer Near Arden, MN

Job Summary:

Provide consulting services to PSE clients for a wide range of engineering projects, including electrical utility transmission planning and studiesgeneration interconnection studies, modeling, and conceptual design;and utility-scale renewable energy resource-focused design and analysis.

Responsibilities:

  • With the support of PSE colleagues, perform transmission studies, including planning studies, stability studies, generator interconnection studies, and material modification studies.
  • Provide and/or assist with generator interconnection support, including preliminary project design.
  • Perform transmission system modeling analysis utilizing engineering analysis software.
  • Assist with PSCAD modeling support for generator projects.
  • Assist on distribution studies as needed.
  • Provide day-to-day operations support to PSE clients. 

Qualifications:

Education and Experience

  • A bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field is required. 
  • 10  years of experiencein consulting, utility, or ISO/RTO environments is preferred.

Knowledge and Skills 

  • Working knowledge of computer software, including PSS/E, MS Excel, and MS Word, is required. 
  • Basic knowledge of applicable NERC, IEEE, NEC, and ANSI standards and electric codes is highly preferred.
  • Knowledge of additional power engineering software programs, including PSCAD, PSLF, TSAT, and TARA, is a plus. 
  • Basic knowledge of electric utility systems and wiring and schematic diagrams is a plus.
  • Possess the ability to achieve quality results, be change-oriented, foster innovation, and be a continuous learner.
  • Use effective communication skills (both written and oral), be customer-driven, and display teamwork behavior.
