Typical Business Schedule: 8:30am to 5:30pm Monday through Friday.

PPMS manages a portfolio of power plants and wind farms across the United States that are owned by private investors. The company provides consulting services in the areas of accounting, finance, tax, project management, engineering, operations, and regulatory compliance.

Job Summary: This position is in the company’s Accounting and Finance department and is responsible for providing accounting support to a team of Controllers. The scope of work includes detailed knowledge of debits and credits, manual journal entry preparation and recording transactions to the general ledger; the monthly close process; account reconciliations; general ledger maintenance; accounts payable process; and other accounting/finance assignments, as needed. The position is also responsible for supporting weekly/monthly funding requirements, compiling monthly customer invoicing, and participating in special projects.

Reporting Relationships and Travel:

  1. This position reports to the Accounting General Manager and works as part of a matrixed team that includes supporting one or more Project Controllers.
  2. Travel is limited to company meetings and/or visits to power facilities and is estimated to be about 10% of work the schedule.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Assist in month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing process, ensuring transactions are in accordance with GAAP, and internal policies and procedures.
  2. Prepare, calculate, enter, and post manual journal entries to the accounting system general ledger as directed.
  3. Prepare and analyze account reconciliations including, but not limited to, cash, accounts receivable, prepaid assets, inventory, fixed assets, accrued liabilities and short term and long- term debt.
  4. Provide analysis of account and general ledger variances between budget and actual, month over month and other defined intervals.
  5. Assist with preparation of financial sections of weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports.
  6. Prepare, understand, and interpret standard GAAP financial statements, specifically a standard balance sheet and income statement and understand the interrelationship between statements.
  7. Process requests for checks, ACH, and wire transfers and record resultant transactions.
  8. Preparation of withdraw and depositary transfer certificates, as required.
  9. Assist in interim and year-end audit requests from external auditors.
  10. Assist in preparation and file sales and use tax filing and payment, as required. 
  11. Assist in quarterly and annual tax requests from tax department.
  12. Maintain appropriate files to prepare and submit IRS forms 1099 and 1096.
  13. Perform other accounting, finance, and administrative duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  1. A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business with a concentration in accounting or finance from an accredited university or college is required.
  2. At least three (3) years of demonstrated experience in accounting.
  3. Experience coding journal entries and invoices according to a standard chart of accounts.
  4. Experience working independently and within a team in a moderately paced environment with an emphasis on accounting accuracy and timeliness.
  5. Experience with Excel and Microsoft Office.

Desired Qualifications:

  1. Experience in accounting or finance working with a power or energy related company.
  2. Demonstrated problem solving experience and knowledge of basic accounting principles, documentation skills, research and resolution skills, data analysis, and multi-tasking skills.
  3. Team oriented and committed to building trust and confidence within a work environment.
  4. Experience working in Sage 100.
