About this Role:
As the Safety Manager at PES in Converse, TX, part of the San Antonio metro, you're key to our team's safety in testing, commissioning, and engineering, mainly in power utilities, industrial construction, and electrical PPE rubber goods testing. While our work is mostly local, we also cover projects nationwide. Your role is crucial in maintaining our high safety standards and industry leadership as part of a Quanta Services Company.
What You'll Do:
- Safety Program Management: Develop, implement, and oversee the safety program, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Training and Development: Conduct onboarding and continuous safety training for employees, including First Aid/CPR/AED instruction. Hold the responsibility of an OSHA 500 Authorized Instructor, facilitating essential safety certifications for the team.
- Site Safety Oversight: Perform regular site visits to audit practices, identify potential hazards, and implement preventative measures to maintain a safe working environment.
- Safety Culture Advocacy: Lead by example to foster and maintain a strong safety culture amongst all employees, promoting awareness and compliance throughout the organization.
- Administrative Safety Tasks: Handle safety administration duties, including prequalifications for new projects, maintaining records, and ensuring the company meets all required safety standards and certifications.
What You'll Bring:
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years in the electrical and/or construction industry with a strong background in safety practices and protocols.
- Certifications: Possession of one or more preferred certifications: CSP, ASP, GSP, CHST, OHST, CUSP, CSHO. Must have OSHA 500 Authorized Instructor Certification along with First Aid/CPR/AED instructor certification.
- Education: A college degree is preferred but not required. Emphasis on qualifications that support a deep understanding of safety management in construction or electrical fields.
- Leadership and Communication: Strong leadership skills with the ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization. Must be able to advocate for safety and influence a culture of safety-first throughout the company.
- Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to analyze safety data, identify trends, and develop strategies to mitigate risks.
