Potter Burnett Law is Hiring a Personal Injury Paralegal Near Bowie, MD

A full-time opportunity is available for a highly motivated, hard-working Personal Injury Paralegal to join the team at Potter Burnett Law.

Applicant must have experience with medical record requests, review and organization. Candidate must have experience in requesting and reviewing medical bill and health insurance liens, confirming medical balances and preparing final disbursement sheets for client funds. An understanding of PIP and Med Pay is required as well. Excellent customer service skills is required. Ability to multi-task, prioritize tasks, and problem solve are required. The role is primarily pre-litigation dealing with injury claims, like car accident cases.

Paralegal Responsibilities and Experience:

  • Request, review and organize medical bills and records
  • Report insurance claims, send letters of representation
  • Request medical liens, put Medicare on notice
  • Some experience with personal injury cases
  • Prepare cases for final disbursal, including reviewing liens and verifying balances
  • Maintain case index system through My Case software for all ongoing and completed cases

Desired Skills:

  • Paralegal Certificate or extensive experience preferred
  • Excellent communication and organization abilities
  • Experience using legal database software and tasking system

Bonus Skills:

Experience with litigation, including drafting pleadings, discovery, e-filing, scheduling depositions, trial preparation, and preparation of final client disbursements.

Qualifications:

  • High school or equivalent (Required)

Microsoft Office: 2 years (Required)

Paralegal: 1 year (Required)

Personal injury law: 1 year (Required)

Applicants without relevant experience will not be considered. Pay and benefits will be commensurate with experience and are competitive.
