Porto Vita Property Owners Association, Inc. is Hiring a Grill Cook Near Aventura, FL

Primarily take charge of cooking food on our Club kitchen's grill which includes braising and grilling meat, vegetables, and other types of food as needed.
ESSENTIAL TASKS:
  • Operates large-volume cooking equipment such as griddles, grills, or deep fryers.
  • Cook grilled foods to order on demand.
  • Checking that ingredients remain fresh and safe for consumption.
  • Regulate grill temperatures and prepare meals in accordance with customers' preferences.
  • Communicate with the head chef and wait staff to ensure the timely delivery of all meals.
  • Prepares and cooks food according to instructions provided on food order slips or through verbal directions; verifies the quality and quantity of all orders.
  • Multitasks by cooking several different orders at once, ensuring that all items are prepared in accordance with customer instructions.
  • Identify and select cuts of meats, poultry, seafood, dairy products, fruits and vegetables used for hot production.
  • Prepare miscellaneous food items as assigned.
  • Requisition necessary supplies.
  • Ensure proper sanitation, maintenance, and cleanliness of grill equipment and station.
  • Preventing cross-contamination.
  • Demonstrate respect, sensitivity and concern for members’ and guests’ needs in a professional manner and recognition of each member in any contacts with the Club.
  • Regular attendance is essential to the successful performance of this position.
  • Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, team members may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the Club. In addition, attendance at all scheduled skill development sessions and Club departmental meetings are required.
  • Attend all team member general meetings as necessary.
  • Support Club and department goals of continuous improvement and learning by attending courses provided by the Club.
  • Perform tasks in a team-based environment.
  • Professionally represent the Club at all times during shifts and/or when on property grounds for job related issues.
SKILLS & ABILITIES:
  • Communicate successfully and maintain good interpersonal relations with co-workers.
  • Comprehend and adhere to written and verbal food orders.
  • Able to tolerate hot/cold temperatures, and stand for long periods of time.
  • Handle stress arising from demands of co-workers and production requirements.
  • Must be able to add, subtract, multiply and divide accurately.
  • Ability to move kitchen equipment from one work site to another.
  • Frequent mobility throughout kitchen and food production outlets, and long periods of standing.
  • Clean, maintain and operate essential equipment in kitchen area.
  • Because of the fluctuating demands of the Club’s operation, it may be necessary that each team member perform a multitude of different functions; therefore, as an essential part of your position, you will be expected to assist others when the occasion arises. Accordingly, this individual may be expected to perform other tasks as needed or as directed.
  • Must fluently speak, read, write and understand the primary language used in the workplace.
  • Knowledge of Club’s amenities and services offered.
  • Ability to multi-task between member requests, operational issues and team member needs.
  • Effective, pleasant speaking and listening abilities when communicating with members and team members.
  • Cooperative and positive attitude, exercising reason.
  • Must be able to work at a rapid pace, while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Must have the ability to work on more than one task at a time.
  • Must have a friendly and outgoing personality.
  • Must exhibit a STAR Service attitude, willing to go out of the way to accommodate and exceed the needs of Club members and guest.
  • Must exhibit enthusiasm for the job and for the Club.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  • Prolonged periods of standing and working in a kitchen.
  • Exposure to extreme heat, steam, and cold present in a kitchen environment.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to work late nights and unpredictable hours.
  • Manual dexterity to cut and chop foods and perform other related tasks.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
  • EDUCATION: High school or 2-year culinary degree required.
  • EXPERIENCE: Minimum 1-year high volume restaurant or hotel kitchen experience.
  • Must pass a background security check and meet the pre-employment drug-free workplace conditions of the Club.
