School Psychologist

Date: July 1, 2016


Salary:
$60,000 15% Benefits


Reports to:
Director of Special Services


Supervises:
N/A


Qualifications:
Master's Degree in School Psychology or Equivalent

Valid Oklahoma Teaching Certificate as a School Psychologist


Job Goal:
Apply principles of educational psychology, developmental psychology, clinical psychology, community psychology, and applied behavior analysis to meet children's and adolescents' behavioral health and learning needs in a collaborative manner with educators and parents.


Employment Terms:
10 Month Contract

Generally – 7 Hour 20 Minute Day, Exclusive of a (30) Minute Duty Free Lunch


FLSA Classification:
Exempt

Evaluation: Annually by Director of Special Services

Physical Demands: This is an overview intended for compliance with the ADA – it is not an exhaustive list of the duties to be performed. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals to perform the essential functions of a specific position.


Regular Requirements:
Stand for extended periods; sit for extended periods; twist at the neck and trunk; bend at the waist; stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl; lift/move up to 40 pounds; handle objects and tools with hands and operate equipment; repetitive use of fingers and hands to operate equipment


Occasional Requirements:
Reach with hands and arms overhead, above shoulder and horizontally; lift/move up to 50 pounds; ability to administer CPR


Visual Requirements:
Close, color, peripheral, depth perception, ability to adjust focus


Hearing/Speaking Requirements:
Adequate to exchange information


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conducts extensive psychological and/or educational examinations of referred students.
  • Participates in conferences when referred students are involved, or as requested.
  • Serves as a resource person for school personnel concerning all types of disabilities.
  • Interprets diagnoses to school personnel, other concerned professionals, parents and students.
  • Makes recommendations on ways to assist a student referred to him/her for examination.
  • Conducts functional behavior assessments.
  • Provides school-based interventions such as assisting schools with problems which have been addressed by the staff with minimal success.
  • Provides individual and group counseling with students that have been determined by the counselor to have a serious level of problems requiring more experienced counseling techniques. Some cases may be referred to other agencies.
  • Serves as a member of the crisis intervention team and provides appropriate services as necessary.
  • Provides in-service to school staff on a variety of topics related to the psychological needs or disturbances of students.
  • Participates in continuing education through workshops and training with a focus on children and families.
  • To ensure continuity of services, remote work may be necessary in the event of a health crisis or disruptive situation that requires the closing of school and/or office buildings. An employee’s eligibility for remote work will be determined by the superintendent of schools. Expectations and guidelines for remote work will be distributed by the employee’s supervisor, based on his/her role and responsibilities.
  • Performs all other tasks as supervisor may assign.
