Description

Job Title: Residential Home Care Provider

Employer: Pomeroy Recreation & Rehabilitation Center

Reports To: Residential Services Manager

Department: Residential Services

Starting Rate: $21.60/hour & Part-time position

Position Summary: Under the supervision of the Residential Services Manager, the Residential Home Care Provider is responsible for assisting with services and supports of individuals with disabilities in a residential level II home with 6 adults. A role responsible responsible for assisting with services and supports any resident emergencies or necessary are needed.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Participant Supervision/ Safety:

  •  Ensure the safety of all participants and safety precautions are observed and met in all activities 
  •  Ensure the safety and safety precautions are observed and met for all equipment and facilities 
  •  Adapts material and equipment to meet individuals and groups’, needs, abilities, interest
  •  Ability to assist and give structured individual care to each person served, including but not limited to, feeding, toileting, personal hygiene, dressing, and other daily living skills, while encouraging personal independence.
  •  Provide physical assistance to person served, including but not limited to, lifting, transferring, pushing wheelchairs, and guiding 
  •  Provides opportunities and encourages participant choice and decision making 

Daily Job Duties:

  • Responsible for leading and creating in-house activities, walks & community outings.
  • Supporting clients with activities and daily living skills 
  • Housekeeping Duties: laundry, dishes, vacuuming, etc
  • Assisting with the Self-Administration of Medications
  • Monitor and document physical and emotional wellness of residents and immediately report changes in status 
  • Maintain & order house/food supplies as needed
  • Organize balanced & healthy menu plans based on the availability of house food supplies
  • Prepare, cook meals, and store food in compliance with all regulations and program outline while encouraging clients to participate.
  • Follow response procedures for all home emergencies, medical, natural disaster, fire, and behavioral incidents 
  • Assist with maintenance and sanitation of home and surroundings 
  • Assist with coordination of residents’ health care
  • Assisting with Individual goals
  • If needed by a resident, immediately assess and attend to the need
  • Record the event in the log and any needed follow-up

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Possess ability to perform and teach basic mathematical skills, interpret and use measurement units in American money, weight, volume and distance. Demonstrates the ability to problem solve, make sound decisions and anticipate outcomes in practical situations and deal with an array of concrete variables in situations, where only limited standardization exists. Accurately interpret a variety of instructions presented in different forms, such as communications, written, oral, diagrams/ charts, schedules, etc. 

Requirements

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Courses taken in Medical Assistant, Social work, Nursing or Recreation preferred
  • One year of related experience and/or training working with individuals with disabilities, leading recreational, developmental and educational activities, and daily living skills preferred
  • Work effectively with a variety of personalities and to be sensitive to the needs and communications of persons with differing abilities 
  • Possession of strong organizational skills 
  • Exceptional verbal, written, interpersonal communication skills. 
  • Ability to work independently on assigned tasks as well as accept direction 
  • Able to work collectively with team associates and others 
  • Apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one to two step instructions
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks and projects with varying time sensitive deadlines.
  • Proficient and competent in Microsoft Office Software (Word & Excel) & Google Drive (Docs & Sheets)
  • Basic level in Microsoft Office Software (Word & Excel) & Google Drive (Docs & Sheets)
  • Basic level in Windows and Macintosh programs/operating systems, email, and the Internet.
  • Able to live on-site and adhere to house rules
