Politico is Hiring a Director of Events, POLITICO Live Near Arlington, VA

We are looking for a passionate and seasoned strategic and operational leader to join our US Live Business team and continue achieving this mission.

The Director of Events Production, POLITICO Live will aide in advancing POLITICO’s event portfolio of brand and commercial events, reporting directly to the Senior Director, Events Production, in our Arlington, Virginia headquarters. In this role, you will play a pivotal role in the planning, execution, and success of our events portfolio, such as White House Correspondents’ Weekend, Conventions, summits and more - ensuring the seamless delivery of high-quality experiences for VIP audiences, clients and events attendees.

The role is highly strategic and collaborative- one that requires a highly resourceful and creative individual who is self-motivated, agile, and entrepreneurial, who can support a dynamic calendar of events, big and small, at an exciting moment for our organization.

What You’ll Need:

  • Help drive the success of events designed to spotlight and demonstrate the power of the POLITICO brand
  • Support and work closely to own and track priorities and/or strategic projects as assigned by Senior Director, Events Production on various production needs as determined; Resource against a wholistic calendar of events to ensure coverage of day-to-day event tactics, systems, materials, and staff is seamless
  • Manage day-to-day planning, budgeting, and production of assigned events, brand and/or commercial, in partnership with key stakeholders across the organization, including Marketing and Communications, revenue teams, Editorial, and POLITICO Live
  • Manage logistics for events, including, but not limited to, venue selection, audio-visual vendors, creative design, budgeting, marketing and promotional activities, event load in and out, registration management, speaker booking support, and other operational needs
  • Travel to produce events and functions outside of Washington as required

What You’ll Need:

  • 6-7 years of experience in high scale event planning and production; experience overseeing event teams preferred
  • Strong knowledge of the Washington, D.C. landscape, including vendors, venues, and VIP audiences, and in other key political markets as required
  • Proven experience project managing on numerous concurrent events, stage managing and production
  • Experience with event management software, virtual event platforms and registration technologies
  • Experience supporting multiple stakeholders on highly visible projects and events
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities, with meticulous attention to detail
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively and efficiently with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, with a dependable and consistent work ethic
  • Ability to travel up to 15-20% if required
  • Bachelor’s degree required
