Job Summary
Under the direction of the Manager of Medical Policy Operations, the Business Analyst is responsible for hands-on data analyses in support of departmental initiatives by using database tools, reporting, and supporting MS Office tools and applications. The Business Analyst will perform effective planning, analysis, and project support to meet ad-hoc, standard and project-based reporting needs. Essential functions occur simultaneously, therefore, the Business Analyst must be able to appropriately handle each essential function, prioritize them and seek assistance when necessary.
Key Responsibilities/Duties – what you will be doing
  • Collect, analyze, and document business requirements for initiatives Ensure requirements are understood by teams, .
  • Manage Medical Policy database/grid input post Committee meetings with information critical to MNG revision history and status; Capture changes/updates in real time.
  • Develop and run standard reports, queries and/or extracts to support management report requests and analytics. Support databases for end users.
  • Document existing workflows and lead and/or support team in providing solutions to new processes/requirements as well as implementing solutions; Suggest process improvement opportunities via data/gap analysis pertaining to process workflows.
  • Works collaboratively with stakeholders to ensure adequate representation in initiatives and may serve as an internal subject matter expert for department.
  • Utilize critical thinking to automate as many internal processes as possible; Partner with Operations and Clinical team members to streamline processes where feasible, document workflows via Visio and/or Power Point.
  • Perform out-of-the-box thinking, collaborate with others, and make a difference every day!
  • Other duties and projects as assigned.
Qualifications – what you need to perform the job
  • Working knowledge of database functionality, query/reporting tools (SQL, Tableau) preferred
  • Business requirement writing/interpretation
  • Working knowledge of project management methodology
  • Strong quantitative and analytic skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills (written and verbal) and strong presentation and facilitation skills (even when not subject matter expert).
  • Ability to translate data and technical subject matter for a broad audience.
  • Ability to visualize the solution and translate to an actionable plan.
  • Critical thinking, strong problem solving and process management and organizational skills; ability to prioritize work and operate under tight deadlines.
  • Resilient, collaborative, flexible, innovative.
  • Must be able to work cooperatively as a team member. Regular interface with various levels of staff and management is required.
  • Ability to effectively support analytic and data needs using a variety of query tools, software and/or database applications. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to handle multiple demands and balance multiple priorities.
  • Self-managed and the ability to build relationships
