As part of our multidisciplinary team, we are seeking a dynamic Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant who shares our dedication to strength-based, family-centered, and team-oriented approaches to student success.
As a School-Based COTA, you will play a pivotal role in promoting the well-being and academic achievement of students through the provision of evidence-based occupational therapy services. Working under the supervision of a state licensed Occupational Therapist within a multidisciplinary framework, you will follow a specific therapeutic plan designed by your supervisor to address the unique strengths and needs of each student.

As a COTA in the school setting, you will support the Occupational Therapist in providing students, families and educational teams with the confidence and competence to enhance and improve perceptual-motor skills, motor coordination, self-care, sensory development, fine motor, muscle strength, range of motion, postural reflexes, and vocational skills.
Follow a therapeutic program designed by your supervisor to treat eligible students aged birth to 22, as determined by educational team and written IEP or accommodation services
Complete necessary documentation in a timely manner and attend/assist in meetings as requested.
Serve as a district-wide resource for occupational therapy related interventions, including assistance to educational staff through consultation, training, and direct individual or group activities.
Identify and employ organizational strategies for scheduling all activities involved in the IFSP/IEP process, including scheduling assessments, direct services, or consultations, monitoring student progress, meeting timelines, and writing reports, etc.
Value and demonstrate positive rapport with students, parents, and professional staff.
Maintain documentation as required for complying with administrative policies and state and federal laws and regulations.
Provide consultation or therapeutic services at school sites as assigned.
Provide in-services to multi-disciplinary team members or school personnel (if needed or as assigned).
Complete other responsibilities as assigned.

Minimum Skills or Qualifications:
Pass the COTA certification exam administered by the NBCOT. You are eligible to take the exam if you graduated from an ACOTE-accredited program in the United States.
Knowledgeable in occupational therapy, multi-disciplinary childhood-intervention theories, and rehabilitation principles and practices.
Utilize Sensory Integration and occupational therapy techniques to support the unique needs of each child.
Must value and cultivate positive relationships with team members, students and their families.
Requires sensitivity to the unique differences and needs of every child and their families.
DOJ/FBI Live Scan Background & TB Clearance
Working knowledge of standard business practices and procedures
Computer-literate; knowledge of standard company software applications, internet
Effective interpersonal skills
Excellent organizational skills with ability to manage multiple tasks
Problem-solving ability and proven accuracy with detailed information
Proficient written and verbal English language communication skills, including business writing and professional telephone manner
Bilingual a plus
