Poettker Construction Company is Hiring a Drone Operator Near Breese, IL

About the Position

The Drone Operator is responsible for executing Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) data capture flights, accurate and complete post-flight processing of sensed data, and disseminating and storage of remotely sensed data obtained by Poettker Construction’s UAS Program. In addition to flying missions, this position will process and create quality end product data as defined by organizational needs and within the limits of current technology used during flight missions as required by Poettker policy and procedures. The Drone Operator will effectively interact with co-workers to understand ever changing and evolving needs as they relate to quality deliverables defined by Poettker Leadership.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Develop Poettker’s Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) Program, including a UAS Policy and Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Conduct Building Envelope Reviews using company-provided Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) and software.
  • Accurately estimate Earthwork quantities.
  • Capture content for Marketing use and project progress updates and distribute appropriately in a timely manner.
  • Adhere to deadlines and due date specifications for flight activities and data delivery schedules, demonstrating the capability to collect data safely and efficiently for the specified mission requirements. Comprehend and deliver data pertaining to project inspections. Execute all necessary Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) / drone missions in accordance with mission requirements.
  • Conduct operations in accordance with mission standards for all inspection equipment, including but not limited to survey systems, ground-based 3D Scanning devices, handheld infrared/corona devices and other cameras.
  • Ensure collected data is stored and maintained at the organizational level and dispersed to the appropriate project teams while maintaining data security protocols.
  • Perform UAS work management activities including job tracking and UAV Maintenance.
  • Perform data gathering and processing procedures related to Infrared (IR) data capture.
  • Read and interpret mobile mapping applications such as ArcGIS Collector and Apple Maps to assist in mission strategy planning.
  • Remain current with the latest federal, state and local regulations surrounding UAS operations and comply with the Poettker UAS Policy and all Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Consistently make sound and strategic decisions aligned with Poettker’s and department level goals to ensure success in ongoing projects and proofs-of-concept.
  • Frequent travel to various project sites, including occasional overnight stays, will be required.

Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management or related field preferred. Two or more years of drone operating experience preferred. FAA UAS Part 107 Certification required. Must possess a valid driver’s license. Experience troubleshooting electrical and technical components required. High level understanding of UAV-related technology and Information Technology practices and an expert level understanding of UAS field operations.
