What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for an experienced Director of Sales and Marketing who will have direct oversight of the sales operation of the hotel. You will be responsible for cultivating and activating the strategic sales strategies, tactics, and action plans required to achieve your hotel's financial, leadership, and market share goals.

This individual will reside in the Orlando, FL area. This is a primarily on-site position that will require occasional travel. This is an exempt position that reports to the General Manager.

The Property

HYATT House is an extended-stay, residential-style hotel that aims to provide individual travelers with the feel of a modern condominium. Our 175 room, all suite property offers the comforts of home such as fully equipped kitchens, flat panel HDTVs and daily complimentary breakfast, while the public space features facilities such as a pool, a fitness center, and a business center. This property is located in urban Orlando near popular destinations such as the Orange County Convention Center, Universal Studios, and premium outlet shopping experiences, accommodating small meetings and corporate clients seeking to place their employees on extended assignment.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead the sales team by example in exceeding our ambitious client acquisition, revenue, and market share goals.
  • Cultivate and activate the key sales strategies, tactics and action plans required to achieve your hotel's financial targets.
  • Develop and implement successful Group and Business Travel sales solicitation activities to secure new and repeat business from target market segments. 
  • Collaborate with the Director of Revenue Management and General Manager to create budgets, forecasts, and business plans.
  • Lead, motivate, and train/develop your sales team so as we grow, they grow; they will be ready to step into new sales leadership roles that arise.
  • Support and inform the operations team in the execution of sales related events.
  • Clearly communicate the direction and purpose of all initiatives to all shareholders in the hotel operation so as to eliminate silos and reinforce collaborative execution of goals.
  • Achieve and maintain superior balanced scorecard results (revenue, STR, GOP, guest experience, colleague engagement, etc.), with an unrelenting desire to exceed previous outcomes.
  • Inspire and motivate your leaders and colleagues to foster a guest-focused and results-oriented environment.
  • Deliver best-in-class guest service and satisfaction by executing against the Modus Ethos, through avenues such as training, survey analysis, feedback, and incentive programs.
  • Actively seek out critical information on market trends, segment behavior, and other data to make informed decisions and remain ahead of the pack.
  • Actively seek out local hotel community and tourism industry partners to stay current on current market occurrences/happenings impacting hotel supply and demand.
  • Create and promote learning opportunities and development plans for direct reports, fostering a culture of development.
  • Champion employee engagement and promote a collaborative and inclusive environment where all employees are encouraged to speak up and their input is valued.
  • Collaborate with shared services partners (marketing, sales and revenue management, people & culture), to maximize performance and engage with companywide initiatives.

Who You Are

  • Have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in sales positions in the hospitality industry, holding a leadership role y and held a senior leadership role (Director of Sales or Associate Director of Sales-Preferred) at a hotel for at least two years.
  • Demonstrate a track record of production in both Business Travel and Group Sales.
  • Have knowledge and experience in Convention Sales Market.
  • Have a track record of achieving and maintaining superior sales and revenue results at your hotel(s) and can articulate the underlying strategies that led to your achievements.
  • Demonstrate thorough experience with professional selling skills: opening, probing, supporting, closing.
  • Able to train and monitor the process of sending referrals, setting traces, and profiling accounts.
  • Possess excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Have a thorough knowledge of the hospitality industry, have a strong financial background, sound administrative skills, well developed management skills, and have demonstrated ability to effectively lead.
  • A passion for hospitality will be apparent from speaking with you; you naturally connect with colleagues and guests.
