Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Childcare Provider to join our team. As a Childcare Provider, you will play a crucial role in creating a safe and nurturing environment for children. This position requires experience in early childhood education and a passion for working with children.

This position is expected to work on Sundays and holidays that fall on a Sunday. The incumbent of this position may work holiday services that do not fall on a Sunday, upon request and in agreement by both parties.

Duties:

1. Complete training through reading and in-person instruction on the United Methodist Child Protection Policy and comply with the Policy at all times.

2. Confirm all children are signed in and signed out by a parent or guardian.

3. Provide supervision, instruction, and nurturing care to all children signed in to the Childcare Room, and all children of families of PHUMC.

4. Provide a Christian-centered welcoming environment and serve as a trusted friend with authority to the children. Engage with the children to learn about their interests and attentively listen to their stories.

5. Develop trusting relationships with PHUMC families; provide reports on each child’s behavior, interactions, and participation in the day’s activities. Provide feedback regarding a child’s unfavorable behavior in a constructive and thoughtful manner.

6. Direct educational activities, as provided by the Education Committee, with all children. Activities may include, but are not limited to, arts and crafts, reading stories, listening to music, and playing games.

7. Support the Visiting Lead Teacher assigned to the Childcare Room through supervision of the children and helping children to complete the lesson activity. May serve as a Visiting Lead Teacher with approval from the Education Committee.

8. Provide care for infants and toddlers when signed into the room, ensuring dedicated attention is given to the safety and well-being of these children.

9. Maintain a clean and safe environment at the close of each session. Sanitize all surfaces and affected toys, furniture (tables, shelves, chairs, cubbies, etc.), and other objects.

10. Develop rapport with staff, members and visitors, representing Pleasant Hills United Methodist Church and its staff members through effective communication, professionalism, and respect of others.

11. Provide a report or attend monthly and/or quarterly meetings with the Education Committee and with the Pastor and SPRC as requested. Sufficient notification of the meeting schedule will be provided.

12. May perform other duties within the scope of this role, related to the care and education of children.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $10.00 - $16.00 per hour

Expected hours: 2 per week

  • Cleveland, OH 44130: Relocate before starting work (Required)
