The Clinical Quality Assurance Nurse (CQAN) will work in partnership and under the direction of PPSAT’s Risk and Quality Management Director, supporting key areas of Risk & Quality Management (RQM) of Clinical Services. The CQAN will work directly with Planned Parenthood South Atlantic (PPSAT) and Planned Parenthood of Tennessee and North Mississippi (PPTNM). The work will include identifying issues with documented processes, analyzing data for accuracy, and providing recommendations to improve quality control. Specifically, the CQAN will help to ensure patient safety and the delivery of high-quality patient care. The CQAN will work with their direct supervisor as well as the Chief Medical Officers, Health Center Managers, Clinicians and Registered Nurses throughout the affiliates, and serve as a quality and compliance resource for clinical staff.

What You'll Do: (but not limited to)

  • Works directly with Planned Parenthood South Atlantic (PPSAT) and Planned Parenthood of Tennessee and North Mississippi (PPTNM).
  • Conduct chart audits applying quality criteria, compile statistical data, and write narrative reports summarizing the quality assurance findings for the CMOs.
  • Develop or revise audit tools in consultation with relevant staff as needed.
  • Create plans for communicating with and training health center staff to ensure deficiencies are corrected.
  • Participate in trainings as a quality assurance and compliance resource.
  • Participate in RQM committee meetings, document quality assurance activities in the RQM plan, and assist with RQM projects as assigned.
  • Responsible for frequent auditing of abnormal lab follow-up processes and identifying areas for improvement.
  • Recognize and identify opportunities for clinical quality assurance.
  • Complete quarterly complication reports by provider and discuss findings with CCO and CMO.
  • Complete occurrence/incident reports.
  • Assist CCO in preparing for, and responding to, State, Federal, funder, and Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) surveys and oversee corrective action plans.
  • Maintain regular communication with relevant staff regarding issues encountered in the course of auditing medical records. 
What You'll Bring to the Role:
  • Bachelor's and/or Masters in Nursing from an accredited university.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience as a Registered Nurse and 2 to 3 years of risk management/auditing experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Current Nursing License in one of the service area states: SC, NC, VA, WV, TN, or MS.
  • Experience with EMR/EHR. 
  • Medical documentation experience. 
  • Experience with medical chart reviewing and auditing.

Schedule:

Full time position working 40 hours per week Monday through Friday from 9AM to 5PM. Hybrid work style with candidate being based in the PPSAT service area of SC, NC, VA, or WV.

Travel:

Some travel (no more than 10%) may be required.

Compensation: 

PPSAT's compensation philosophy is based on equity and transparency. Each job at PPSAT is assigned a salary grade built on market data. For an individual coming into PPSAT, we set a pay generally between the minimum and the midpoint of the salary grade and based on candidate qualifications. The pay range for this position is $68,000.00 to $86,700.00 paid annually.
