Planned Parenthood of Greater Washington and North is Hiring a Community Outreach Specialist ($24-$30/hr) Near Wenatchee, WA

Description

The External Affairs Team at Planned Parenthood of Greater Washington and North Idaho is on the search for a Community Outreach Specialist! This position will be home-sited at the Wenatchee Health Center with remote-work options available. For business purposes, candidates must live in Wenatchee or North-Central Washington.

This is a full time position (37.5 hours/week) Monday-Friday with some Saturday work. Travel is required up to 30% of the time.

The Community Outreach Specialist helps support the External Affairs Team by cultivating and stewarding donors and conducting community outreach that engages stakeholders, coalition partners, supporters, and the general public in protecting and advancing reproductive health care, human rights, and sexual health education.

Being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 is an essential requirement of working at PPGWNI religious and medical exemptions will be considered upon request.

Requirements

Core Responsibilities

  • In collaboration with the Community Outreach Manager, identify and implement measurable and realistic goals ensuring that PPGWNI’s presence is positive, visible, and responsive to the local community of supporters.
  • With guidance and support from Community Outreach Manager and the Development team, manage an assigned portfolio of major and prospective donors, and current donors on the cusp of meeting the major gift threshold of $2,500.
  • Engage donors and solicit gifts for fundraising campaigns and emerging health center needs. 
  • Work with contracted grant writing team to identify possible grant leads to continue funding these programs
  • Assist with patient recruitment efforts with support and guidance from the Marketing and External Affairs Teams.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with, supporters, donors, community members, and social service agencies that support the agency’s mission and the goals in the region.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with school staff and community partners to grow educational programing and support.
  • Collaborate with the VP of Health Equity and Learning on education programming opportunities in north central Washington.

Required Qualifications

  • One or more years of experience in community organizing, health education and/or fundraising, or significant experience volunteering for a nonprofit. 
  • Ability to work remotely with minimal supervision and in collaboration with multiple remote teams.
  • Ability to successfully prioritize projects, multi task, and be self-driven is essential.
  • Competence in Microsoft Office programs including Word and Excel. 
  • Must be able to speak publicly, prepare and give presentations, and successfully manage interpersonal relationships.
  • Solid communication skills and the ability to show tact and decorum in all interpersonal and technology driven communication.

  • Bilingual in English/Spanish

Travel

  • Travel is required up to 30% of the time. 
  • Must have valid driver’s license, access to a personal vehicle and proof of vehicle insurance with ability to travel up to 30% of the time.
  • Travel will be reimbursed and time spent traveling is paid.
