When you join PPGNY as a Human Resources Generalist you will support the strategic goals of the organization by overseeing the effective implementation of departmental processes. The incumbent acts as a frontline resource for employees and managers regarding onboarding and offboarding, employee relations and performance management matters, payroll, benefits, leave management, and policy interpretation. The HR Generalist may own or oversee departmental initiatives and may assist department leadership with organization-wide or strategic initiatives. The incumbent should bring practical experience implementing or supporting equity and inclusion initiatives at the department or organization level. The successful candidate will be comfortable leaning in to challenging conversations around equity, particularly race equity.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Ensures all departmental processes, including onboarding and offboarding, payroll, benefits, leave management, are carried out consistent with department protocol and organizational policy 
  • Maintains accurate, timely and complete documentation in compliance with all regulatory requirements, as well as PPFA’s and PPGNY’s policies and practices
  • Provides input on the development of (Human Resources) policies and procedures and acts as a frontline resource to staff on questions of policy interpretation 
  • Supports the accurate and timely processing payroll by gathering information and documentation from managers and staff
  • Consults with hiring managers on staffing needs and supports recruiting and the PPGNY Talent Acquisition team as needed, including partnering with local organizations to build candidate pipelines
  • Acts as a resource for managers and staff on employee relations and performance management, ensuring adherence to policies, laws, and best practices. employee relations and performance management matters
  • Monitors adherence to department policies and procedures and escalates issues as appropriate
  • Serves as a resource for staff concerns, providing timely follow up, investigation if necessary, and keeping appropriate documentation
  • Elevates complex employee relations or performance management issues to the HR Director 
  • Serves as a resource for staff with employment related questions and concerns and provides a referral to appropriate resources such as EAP
  • In consultation with the Director, Human Resources may participate in the management of routine labor relations matters
  • In collaboration with the Human Resource Director, support the development and delivery of effective performance management tools,(including corrective action, and performance improvement plan)
  • Develops and delivers relevant training to supervisors/managers
  • Advises the HR team on staff training and development needs and opportunities
  • Participates in the development and implementation of effective onboarding and offboarding programs 
  • Oversees the automation of all curricula, as well as the tracking of all learning and other documentation in assigned management region
  • Able to float between all Region 3 locations (Ithaca, Corning, Elmira etc.,)
You have:
  • A demonstrated commitment to PPGNY’s mission related to bodily autonomy, health equity, and gender and racial justice
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, human resources,(liberal arts) or a related field 
  • A demonstrated commitment to learning about and enhancing practices related to racial equity and its impact on healthcare systems
  • 3 years of experience in an HR generalist role that includes responsibility for employee relations
  • Proficiency in (Microsoft office 365) and HRIS systems. ADP, Paycom, and Workday experience a plus
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations 
  • Strong relationship building and communication skills, including an ability to work and build trust across cultural differences related to race, class, age, gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, religion, ethnicity, national origin and ability; and to reflect on one’s personal identity with humility

Compensation:
  • $67,000- 74,000 yearly
