The Health Services Manager is responsible for managing the health services for all the Early Head Start (EHS) and Early Childhood (EC) students. This includes supervision the Early Childhood health staff and contracted nurses, assuring that all students have up-to-date immunizations and physicals, assuring that students with health conditions have a health plan, and advising staff on day-to-day health issues and questions. This position also includes developing relationships with partner agencies that provide health services to the children in the program, interacting with parents and families, and providing professional learning sessions for Early Childhood Education Program staff and parents.

Qualifications
� Registered Nurse or School Nurse certification with 5 years experience in early childhood health, school health, or community health / nursing. Experience working in a school or Head Start setting preferred.
� Must have a PA driver?s license and reliable transportation in order to travel from school to school frequently.
� Excellent organizational skills are needed. -Ability to work as part of a team to serve families and children. -Experience with data collection & analysis. -Experience managing databases.

Essential Job Functions:
1. Assure program is compliant with Pittsburgh Public Schools (PPS), federal and state health mandates, rules and policies.
2. Supervise Early Childhood health services employees and contracted agency staff to ensure that all required health services are provided, parents/families are followed up with, and documentation is entered in the computer database. This includes:
a. Ensuring the completion of sensory and growth screening for each child within 45 calendar days of enrollment.
b. Determining each child?s physical and oral health status and providing support to families in accessing treatment within 90 calendar days of enrollment.
3. Collaborate with PPS Health Services administrative staff and school nurses across all buildings.
4. Chairs the Health Advisory Committee as part of the state and federal grant mandates.
5. Is responsible for the health, safety, and nutritional sections of the Head Start Performance Standards.
a. Writes/updates the health, safety, and nutrition sections of the Head Start grant.
b. Gathers information for the health, safety, and nutrition portions of the Head Start reviews.
6. Oversee the writing and implementation of allergy plans and health plans for children who have chronic health conditions.
7. Oversee the release of information forms and communicate with families and the physicians' offices to obtain written documentation of required health and dental care.
8. Manage the weekly dental clinic.
9. Oversee and provide guidance to the Early Childhood health services staff and classroom staff in accordance with the Early Childhood Education Programs policies and procedures on a day-to-day basis concerning illness and injury such as, head lice, skin conditions, or any other health/dental/nutritional issues that arise.
10. Create Early Childhood procedures and manage PPS policies and procedures related to urgent health needs.
