General Definition of Work
The Finance Specialist, under the limited supervision of the Assistant Finance Officer, performs intermediate skilled administrative work entering and paying funds for invoices, matching invoices to checks, and assisting staff with accounts payable questions. This position performs professional accounting/budgeting and auditing functions to promote the overall efficiency of Pitt County Schools. Employee performs responsible services to carry out Board of Education policies and procedures related to finance under the direction of the Assistant Finance Officer.

Place of Work
The normal place of work is on the premises used by Pitt County Schools. Pitt County Schools reserves the right to require you to work at such other place or places as it may reasonably require from time to time.
Essential Functions

• Adheres to all state, federal, and local laws, policies, and procedures
• Verifies, approves, and processes purchase orders and invoices to ensure compliance
• Processes accounts payable checks, payroll closing checks, and employee reimbursements according to policy and law
• Prepares reports as directed/required
• Manages reconciliation/compliance in assigned areas
• Monitors expenditures across bookkeeping functions to not exceed allotments or budget
• Trains bookkeepers on Accounts Payable functions and funds as needed/required
• Reviews vendor statements for accuracy and compliance
• Performs processes that provide effective cash flow management
• Maintains and oversees a complete, systematic and accurate set of accounting records
• Reconciles local, state, and federal accounts and records adjustments as needed/required
• Participates in professional development workshops and leadership training
• Creates an inclusive environment with positive communication/public relations
• Performs related work as assigned or required
