Reviews, evaluates, and coordinates special events permitting; creates, maintains and revises systems to improve efficiency in the Special Event permit processes.
Provides information regarding the Special Event application process, including application process, rules, regulations, and requirements to potential applicants; distributes applicable forms.
Accepts applications for special events; conducts pre-application meetings with applicants; identifies which County services will be impacted; provides general details for constructing a Safety and Operation plan.
Reviews Special Event applications; evaluates proposals for compliance with County Code; makes referrals to other County Departments or external entities and coordinates, updates and clarifies the proposals as required; Coordinates and meets with Special Events Committee; Recommends approval or denial of proposals.
Acts as a liaison between applicants and referral agencies; coordinates with public groups affected by events (e.g. neighborhood caucus groups, homeowners); coordinates with other approvals that may apply (Master Plan, land use).
Analyzes a variety of special event permit issues and develops and presents reports and recommendations in public meetings to appointed and elected officials.
Supports the relationship between Pitkin County government and the general public by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with citizens, visitors, and County staff; maintains confidentiality of work-related issues and County information; performs other duties as required or assigned.
Performs in-person customer service with front desk and Department phone reception responsibilities, as assigned by the manager.
Up to 1 year experience in coordinating, producing or permitting special events.
High School diploma or GED, Bachelor's Degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must possess a valid Colorado Driver’s License and acceptable Motor Vehicle Record.

State and federal laws and regulations governing work performed.
Record keeping and records management rules and standards.
Local community issues and regional community resources available to citizens.

Work is performed primarily in a standard office environment; site inspections may occur in variable weather and terrain.
