Lumentum is seeking a bright, motivated individual to lead the exploration and development of next generation HPC short reach optical interconnect for AI/ML applications. As an R&D program lead, working with a world-class development team, you will help bring next generation high performance computer (HPC) optical interconnect from idea to reality. Bring ideas to prototypes, and to volume production in a fast pace. You will need not only a breadth and depth of knowledge and skills, but also excellent ability to build and lead a team to collaborate with laser, PIC, mechanical/packaging, software and test engineers, reliability experts and manufacturing process specialists. Key Responsibilities:
Work with field team and engineering team to plan the product development projects
Work and plan with key technology suppliers, internal and external, to ensure the success of project execution and on schedule.
Ability to lead, motivate, and influence teams and stakeholders at all levels including executives, technical experts, and cross-functional teams in the product development cycle.
Key Requirements:
15 years of experience with proven success in short reach optical interconnect or transceivers (e.g., released product in volume)
Familiarity with short reach optical link budget and design tradeoffs
Knowledge of VCSEL, edge emitter laser, photodiodes, optics element, multimode and single mode fiber, and the corresponding supply chain
Knowledge of laser driver, TIA and NRZ/PAM4 DSP and supply chain
Knowledge of optical engine packaging and process technologies, thermal analysis, mechanical & optical tolerance analysis and DFM tradeoffs
Knowledge of SiPho devices in IMDD communication application is a plus.
Familiar with electronic and optical test equipment and methodologies for short reach link characterization
Familiarity with reliability requirement, and failure analysis techniques
Expert in planning, design, and qualification phases of development projects
Verbal and written communication skills and ability to work collaboratively.
Master or PhD degree in EE, Optics, Physics or equivalent
