Job Description:

• Prompt Engineer
• The mission of the Research team is to make client's research and its team of analysts available to institutional clients through a Research Portal web site and chat tools including AI-driven chat.
• To make this vast amount of information more accessible, we have built a variety of tools including a search engine, a machine-learning-driven search intent classifier, an LLM-driven question-answering system, and an ontology/taxonomy, all supported by reference data about companies, industries, and client's analysts.
• Global Research is building a team of SMEs and LLM/NLP experts to support this.
• The Prompt Engineer will be a member of this team.
• Client is looking for a candidate with experience as an LLM Prompt Engineer in crafting and refining prompts to effectively interact with LLMs and guide AI models.
• This role requires a deep understanding of LLMs and of how these models respond to varying input formats and what types of creative prompting solutions elicit the desired optimal outputs.
• The Prompt Engineer will have technical proficiency with AI models, a keen linguistic acumen and a strong gasp of contextual nuances.
• The Prompt Engineer will collaborate with the data scientists, developers, SMEs and other domain experts to ensure that prompts are optimized for the specific goals, business requirements and legal, compliance and ethical guidelines.
• Attention to detail, adaptability to a rapidly changing environment are critical.
• Client also expect creativity, the ability to understand the requirements of specialized knowledge domains (i.e. financial research) and to be attuned to end-used expectations and experiences.
• The Prompt Engineer will play a pivotal role in aligning AI models outputs to Client's Department's varied and diverse use cases and users, including analysts, writers, editors, consumers of client content and our institutional investor clients.

Responsibilities:

• Design and develop effective prompts to interact with LLMs.
• Test and refine prompts on model responses and specific use cases and requirements.
• Collaborate with data scientists and developers.
• Analyze and interpret model outputs to improve prompt design.
• Ensure that prompts adhere to legal and compliance mandates, ethical guidelines and cultural sensitivities.
• Provide expertise in NLP and AI interactions.
• Document prompt design strategies and guidelines for various use cases
• Works closely with SMEs and domain experts to ensure prompt relevance and accuracy.
• Adapt prompts for different languages, audiences and cultural contexts if required.
• Keep up-to-date on the latest developments in AI and language models.
• Over time build a basic understanding of the investment research domain.

Top 3 Required Skills:

• Strong background in AI, ML and LLMs; experienced Python programmer
• Practical experience in prompt engineering & Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) with OpenAI GPT4 models (minimum 6 months)
• Practical experience with LangChain, Solr, chunking, and embedding techniques (minimum 6 months)

Top 3 Nice to Have skills:

• Deep understanding of Transformer models and experience in LLM fine tuning
• Basic understanding of financial research or some experience in the financial services industry
• Ability to communicate with technical and non-technical stakeholders

Education:

• Bachelors or Masters required

Experience:

• 3 plus years of experience minimum with AI, ML or NLP solutions (min 6 months experience as prompt engineer strongly preferred)

Required Skills:

• Strong background in AI, machine learning and LLMs
• Experience in NLP techniques
• Familiarity with programming languages used in the LLM ecosystems (Python)

Pay Range: $40- $45

The specific compensation for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role as well as the cost of labor in the market; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment.
