Description

Piedmont Ear Nose and Throat Associates, PENTA, was formed in 1999, a convergence of two otolaryngology practices dedicated to compassionate and high-quality medical care. Today, PENTA remains a privately owned, physician led surgical practice, which has grown to 11 physicians, one physician assistant and a staff of more than 60 people. The services offered include general adult and pediatric medical and surgical otolaryngology, audiological services including hearing aid sales and service, allergy testing and treatment including immunotherapy, clinical research and facial plastic surgery, including cosmetic injectables and aesthetic products and services. The providers and staff at PENTA are dedicated to delivering the best patient care possible through teamwork, integrity, knowledge and passion.

We are seeking a confident, capable and hard-working candidate to join our practice. This provider will practice with significant autonomy and decision making capabilities, while couched in a supportive environment designed to foster and promote growth.

Highlights of the Position:

1. We are seeking a motivated provider to deliver high-quality patient care in a team setting, focusing on both new patients and established patient care. Also performing evaluation of pre-op and post-op patients.

2. This provider will be given ample time to train in otolaryngology and become comfortable with routine otolaryngology patient care.

3. The provider will be assigned one specific supervisor who will be readily available to provide counsel and answer questions, as well as likely interacting with multiple physicians.

4. The provider will provide direct support to the physicians in the Mt. Airy, North Carolina office in an outpatient clinical setting.

5. The provider will be expected to take call roughly one weekend a month, consisting of telephone calls from home.

6. A great work life balance is offered with typical weekly hours of Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 5 PM.

Responsibilities:

1. This provider will perform routine patient care, including but not limited to, obtaining a medical history, performing adequate head and neck examination, prescribing and refilling medications, creating treatment plans, ordering appropriate imaging/laboratory studies and interpreting these.

2. This provider will have a significant amount of autonomy in providing patient care, as well as creating and administering a specific treatment plan.

3. This provider will establish rapport with patients and create a respectful, comfortable and welcoming patient environment.

4. This provider will perform office procedures depending on individual experience, capabilities and confidence. Procedures may include transnasal flexible fiberoptic laryngoscopy, nasal endoscopy, binocular microscopic ear procedures, biopsies and more.

5. This provider will prepare and update patient records through our EHR system and do so in a timely manner.

6. This provider may be required to perform other duties appropriate for his or her level of training as assigned.

Requirements

1. Graduation from an accredited physician assistant program

2. Possess a valid PA license in applicable jurisdiction

3. National certification from the National commission on certification of PAs

4. Excellent patient care skills and awareness of the legal implications of work and words in healthcare

5. General knowledge of OSHA and HIPAA regulations

6. Confidence to work independently

7. Willingness to take over existing patients as well as take on new patients

8. Current CPR certification

9. Must possess the physical and mental abilities to perform the tasks normally associated with a physician assistant such as standing, sitting, walking, bending, stooping and twisting. Occasionally help to transfer a patient. Work may occasionally involve irregular working hours

10. Must adhere to the PENTA code of conduct
