Title: Electrical Field Technician

Job Summary:
PIC Group has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Electrical Field Technician supporting construction of an industrial process facility in Alabama. The Electrical Field Technician will report to the Project Manager and work closely with Construction Managers, Superintendents, Project Managers, and General Manager to support the construction project. The Electrical Field Technician will also assist the Project Manager with project controls, including but not limited to daily management, budgeting, scheduling, and planning to ensure the project is constructed according to the project plans. Some duties may require outdoor activities including but not limited to working in a heavy industrial environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Responsible for the safe and efficient testing and verification of electrical equipment.
• Perform duties as the subject matter expert for electrical equipment installation, application, and troubleshooting.
• Utilizes insight and experience by providing recommendations on strategy, best practices on construction and operational issues.
• Identifies safe work boundaries and required energy isolation points for equipment lock out and tag out permits.
• Reviews and approves work permits for the conductance of work on systems under the control of the department.
• Conducts activities in accordance with project safety policies, manufacturer guidelines, engineering drawings, specifications, codes, standards, and company guidelines.
• Reviews applicable test records for accuracy and conformance to established requirements
• Actively engages in the system punchlist process through developing a knowledge of the equipment, manufacturer requirements and engineered documents to accurately assess equipment status at the time of walkdown. Proactively reports completion of punchlist items.
• Ensure all electrical equipment is installed, configured, and performing as designed.
• Develops and enforces adherence to detailed equipment/system commissioning plans.
• Troubleshoot plant operational issues and coordinate corrective action

Job Requirements:

• Highly motivated with a demonstrated passion for excellence and taking initiative
• Ability to read and understand engineered drawings
• Ability to comprehend and implement manufacturer procedures.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills and problem solving abilities
• Demonstratable abilities to utilize a computer for email communication, producing effective spreadsheets and producing word documents
• In depth understanding of electrical distribution systems
• Ability to oversee and validate electrical third party testing
• In-depth understanding of LOTO, NFPA 70E, electrical safety, and commissioning activities.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills and problem-solving abilities.
• Demonstratable abilities to utilize a computer for email communication, producing effective spreadsheets and producing word documents
• Strong knowledge of plant electrical systems, controls, equipment, construction methods, industrial processes, practices, and systems to assist General Manager and Project Managers as needed.

Physical Requirements:

• Duties require walking, standing for extended periods of time, crawling, stooping, sitting, climbing vertical and inclined ladders and stairs, and lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs.
• Must be able to use protective equipment correctly (i.e., hard hats, safety glasses, ear protection, etc.) most of the day.

Education / Experience:

• Technical degree or 3 years of relatable experience.
• Industrial construction experience preferred.
