    SUMMARY:
    The Service Assistant performs general clerical functions, operates office equipment and provides general assistance in the program to which assigned.
    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
    • Assists in the preparation of materials by typing, copying, faxing and distributing materials as requested by the department.
    • Purchases supplies for assigned department; maintains records of purchases.
    • Maintains and updates individual student folders and student records.
    • Types reports and memorandums.
    • Operates office equipment.
    • Prepares requisitions and other District forms.
    • Prepares and handles department mailings as needed.
    • Maintains records and filing systems.
    • Supports the relationship between the Phoenix Union High School District and the public by demonstrating courteous and professional behavior when interacting with students, parents, visitors, and school staff; maintains absolute confidentiality of work-related issues, client records, and school information; follows Governing Board Policies; performs all other related duties as required or assigned.

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
    Education, Training, and Experience Guidelines:
    High School diploma or GED equivalent; AND six months of general clerical experience.
    License and Certification Requirements:
    A valid Arizona Driver's License is required.
    Possess an active Arizona Department of Public Safety IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card or obtain one within the first 90 workdays of employment.
    IDEAL CANDIDATES WILL HAVE THE FOLLOWING SKILLS AND ABILITIES
    • Ability to type with accuracy at a rate required to perform functions effectively.
    • Ability to maintain accurate records.
    • Skill in organizing and prioritizing work.
    • Ability to operate a variety of office machines and equipment, ability to operate a computer preferred.
    • Skill in understanding, explaining, and applying relevant rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
    • Skill in researching and compiling data for reports, presentations, and technical documents.
    • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and procedures.
    • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
    • Ability to provide excellent customer experiences, including but not limited to interacting tactfully and courteously with the public.

    • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
    • Ability to use initiative within organizational policies, procedures and guidelines.
