Summary: 

Tetra Tech is currently seeking a Senior Geologist/Account Manager. The position location will be based out of Phoenix, AZ. The Senior Geologist/Account Manager will provide strategic leadership to facilitate growth of Tetra Tech’s mining, environmental, engineering and water resource work in the southwest region. Tetra Tech believes that successful leaders are the catalyst that can bring positive change to the company and in turn their own careers. This is realized through implementing efficient operational protocols, providing constructive leadership to senior through junior level staff that inspires them to do good work and enjoy their job, providing strategic planning for the growth of enterprise-wide initiatives, and bringing in new or leveraging existing client relationships and the associated revenue that allows for growth both locally and throughout the enterprise. The Senior Geologist/Account Manager will be part of a select team of practitioners and leaders in Tetra Tech’s Environmental and Engineering practice developing and implementing high-quality solutions for our clients with operations in several market segments.

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing innovative, high-end, and sought-after solutions for our commercial and governmental clients that provide the basis to grow our environmental and engineering practice. Your Role:

  • Rapidly integrate yourself into Tetra Tech to leverage Tetra Tech’s diverse service offerings. Serve as or work toward serving as the Senior Account Lead for one or more client accounts identified as strategic pursuits. Meet client needs and provide high value services. Provided services should result in client’s desire to continue and grow business relationship with Tetra Tech.
  • Network and collaborate with Tetra Tech account leads, project managers and operating units to leverage Tetra Tech’s existing relationships to pursue and grow work within the region.
  • Manage and provide technical expertise on environmental compliance, site investigation and remediation projects for a variety of clients with complex technical/regulatory issues in the region.
  • Oversee multiple projects within client’s scope/budget/schedule expectations and ensure quality standards on project deliverables.
  • Identify opportunities to assist clients with environmental, remediation and technical support. Utilize technical expertise within Tetra Tech and subcontractors to develop teams to capture and implement this work.
  • Serve as the Senior Account Lead for one or more client accounts identified as strategic pursuits. Meet client needs and provide high value services. Provided services should result in client’s desire to continue and grow business relationship with Tetra Tech.
  • Develop strategic capture plans for clients; preparing cost and technical proposals that address client needs; effectively and efficiently overseeing project managers to ensure the completion of projects on time and within budget and regulatory guidelines; identifying resources and developing “virtual” teams within Tetra Tech that can effectively and efficiently service client needs; and maintaining good client communications.
  • Actively participate with local project teams to strategically pursue and capture new opportunities and focus on project delivery. Work with project managers to perform comprehensive analysis of account potential, market share, and remaining winnable opportunities. Other activities will include RFP management, contract negotiation, and project implementation.
  • Develop strategic teaming partnerships (e.g., joint ventures, small business alliances, and prime/sub) for major commercial projects and leverage client relationships to identify prospective partnerships.
  • Attract and assist in recruiting key talent who fit with Tetra Tech’s entrepreneurial culture and team approach.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Hydrogeology, Engineering, Environmental Science, Natural Resources or equivalent.
  • Master’s degree or higher in one of these disciplines is a plus.
  • PE or PG registration or equivalent relevant professional registration required.
  • 20 year’s work experience in environmental consulting or related field with an ability to demonstrate roles of increasing task or management responsibilities.
  • The ability to interpret and understand federal, state and local environmental regulations. A thorough knowledge of environmental requirements/regulations associated with soil and groundwater remediation.
  • Skilled in oral and written communication with demonstrated ability developing and delivering effective presentations to customers and management.
  • The ability to work independently or with a team to complete work products, to meet specific desired objectives and deadlines, and to prioritize and handle multiple tasks, and projects concurrently.
  • Proven business development experience for large programs/contracts and client relationships supported by repeat business, including established contacts.
  • The ability to successfully manage small or large groups of professional staff.
  • A highly cooperative personality and the ability to collaborate with various types/levels of individuals and professions within industrial and governmental settings.
  • Applicable certifications are preferred, including but not limited to, HAZWOPER and MSHA. Additional certifications are welcome, such as Project Management Professional (PMP), Certified Environmental Scientist (CES), Certified Environmental Auditor (CEA), Registered Environmental Manager (REM), Lean Six Sigma Green Belt, etc.
  • Modeling and or simulations related to geology and/or hydrogeology, including Aqtesolv, fate and transport modeling, Johnson & Edinger vapor intrusion modeling, and other modeling software applications.
  • Occasional travel may be required.
  • A Pre-employment drug screening in compliance with state regulations is required.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record without restrictions.
