Description
Pharmacy Technician
General: The Pharmacy Technician is responsible for assisting the pharmacist with the day-to-day activities in the pharmacy.
Rotating Shifts: 9AM to 5:30PM and 10:30AM to 7PM, later on occasion. Monday through Friday, No Holidays
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Responsible for running the ATP Machine including cleaning the machine daily as well as changing the paper and ribbon as needed.
2. Setting up medication trays and having them checked by another Certified Pharmacy Technician.
3. Setting up new canisters for any NDC changes.
4. Troubleshooting ATP malfunction as situations occur.
5. Updating lots and expirations and descriptions.
6. Letting the Long-Term Care Registered Pharmacist know when there is a change in manufacturers.
7. Operates under “Absolute Check Policy.” Please note that willfully bypassing a Registered Pharmacist check is grounds for termination of employment.
8. Setting up products for the Registered Pharmacist to see through the remote camera.
9. Restocking stat-safe for facilities.
10. Running labels for products and labeling them as directed.
11. Pulling medications for the labels and setting it out of Registered Pharmacist to check on camera, after labels the product again for final.
12. Scanning all finished products into totes, printing delivery sheets, and checking off the correct medication with the sheet.
13. Running strips through the Rx inspector for the pharmacist to check. Correct errors found and re-image the corrections for the pharmacist
14. Know the functions of the alarm system, both for entry and exit.
15. Delivery of medication strips to the facilities where they will be exchanged for empty totes and possible stat-orders to other off campus facilities.
16. Ordering medications from Dakota and put them away in Beacon upon arrival.
17. Tear down returned strips. Put medication into cassettes or bottles after check in by pharmacist.
Requirements
Education: High School diploma or equivalent. Will require Pharmacy Technician certification within 6 months of hire. Pharmacy Technician Certification with a minimum of 1500 hours of experience is required.
