The Human Resources Generalist plays a critical role in supporting the day-to-day operations of the HR office while acting as a partner to employees and management.
" Act as an internal consultant by establishing trust and credibility with employees and leaders. Maintain a thorough understanding of company goals, direction, business plans and overall culture.
" Interpret and implement HR policies and procedures for managers and employees.
" Support the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions; conduct or acquire background checks and employee eligibility verifications and prepare employment contracts.
" Help to implement new hire orientation and employee engagement events throughout the calendar year.
" Administer end-to-end HR data management processes and ensure accuracy of employees' profile information.
" Assist with the management of the company's Leave (ADP/ Personal), Accommodation and Benefits programs.
" Proactively identify opportunities to enhance the employee experience and partner with people leaders to develop and implement solutions
" Manage employee relations and provide support to people leaders in resolution of issues, including conducting investigations, coaching, counselling, and recommendations on appropriate actions.
" Develop internal HR communication material specific to HR policies, procedures and programs or other internal business needs.
" Support the Director to prepare employee separation documents and conduct employee separation meetings as required.
" Analyze HR trends and metrics to develop solutions, programs, and policies (i.e. exit interview data, turnover data, onboarding feedback
" Maintain accurate, up-to-date, and complete HR records (both digital and physical).
" Maintain compliance with the applicable federal and provincial employment laws and regulations and recommended best practices; review policies and practices to maintain compliance.
Requirements:
" Post-Secondary degree, with a specialization in business or HR would be ideal
" Minimum of 3 to 5 years HR experience working as an HR generalist
" Highly motivated, outgoing, professional, and caring individual.
" Proven success in developing and maintaining effective relationships with business partners at all levels of the organization
" Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive/difficult situations with understanding and tact.
" Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
" Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, HRIS, Dayforce systems.
" Exceptional written and verbal communications skills
" Strong critical thinking skills and demonstrated ability to problem solve and think on their feet.
" Someone who has worked with Union employees
