Department Overview

The Environmental Management – Generation team operates within the Land and Environmental Management Department and includes a staff of environmental professionals who provide support to the Power Generation line of business. Our work requires close integration between our team of land planners, environmental field specialists, biologists, and environmental scientists, as well as with law and environmental programs and the Power Generation line of business.

Position Summary

The Program Manager, Principal is responsible for program ownership and leadership of key Land and Environmental management initiatives, project management and integration within the Environmental Management and Power Generation teams. As a product, program and initiative owner, the successful candidate will be responsible for all elements of product lifecycle and ensuring that customers of the applications, Power Generation and Environmental Management integration and initiatives are supported and successful. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading initiatives and continuous improvement efforts, establishing, building and reporting on key performance indicators and metric development that result in improved environmental support to Power Generation projects, license compliance and relicensing efforts.

The role is classified as hybrid (0-3 days per week in office), working primarily from your remote office and in-person in the Oakland General Office to attend team meetings or as business needs require.

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.

A reasonable salary range is:

 Bay Area Minimum: $140,000.00
Bay Area Maximum: $238,000.00

Job Responsibilities

  • Plans and manages the activities and initiatives associated with responsible software applications including Salesforce reporting, dashboarding and strategic development to ensure data quality and performance metrics are utilized to improve compliance performance and on-time project and permit execution.
  • Manages major cross-functional projects and initiatives between Power Generation and Environmental Management resulting in improved processes, data quality, integrity and improved procedures.
  • Solves unique and complex problems, anticipating issues and developing innovative solutions.
  • Demonstrates strategic leadership with internal stakeholders to support Company goals.
  • Leads development of program goals and metrics to meet company goals and objectives. Collaborates across organization to ensure alignment of goals to support program.
  • Manages resources both internal and external to complete necessary development and improvement projects associated with the application.
  • Interacts with stakeholders to develop relevant applications, manage backlog of enhancements, and regularly solicits feedback on application performance.
  • Project Management: Lead projects, determining scope, budget, timeframes, forming teams, assigning tasks, managing resources and issues.
  • Brings expertise or identifies subject matter experts in support of multi-functional efforts to identify, interpret and produce recommendations and plans based on company and external data analysis. Advises business leaders and addresses business issues, trends and opportunities.
  • Creates new ideas and innovative solutions to improve analysis methodologies and ensures effective development.
  • Utilization of Project Management tools to drive team performance.
  • Coaches and mentors less experienced staff.
  • Identified waste elimination efforts and drives execution of change management.

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Bachelor of Science in Business, Finance, Economics, Engineering, Environmental Management or related discipline or equivalent work experience.
  • 10 years of related work experience.

Desired:

  • Environmental operational background
  • Masters degree in Biology, Environmental Management, Environmental or Civil Engineering, Environmental Sciences, Business, Finance, Economics or related field.
  • Experience with product ownership
  • Experience with project management and compliance tools such as Salesforce, Primavera, SAP.
  • Experience with Federal Power Act, FERC Licensing, NEAP, CEQA, ESA and CESA.
