Overview the Materials Management Team:
The PESI Materials Management Team works quickly and efficiently to deliver educational books and products across the world. This close-knit team is responsible for all warehouse operations, including picking, packing, staging, receiving and inventory. Additionally, our team provides strong customer service to vendors and customers by providing shipping quotes, meeting delivery deadlines, and resolving discrepancies when needed. PESI’s Materials Management team also works with the business management and product teams to plan and operate successful virtual bookstores.
The Materials Management Team plays an important role in fulfilling PESI’s mission of connecting knowledge with need!
What You Will Be Doing: (responsibilities)
- Provide overall leadership and support to the materials management department including assigning duties, overseeing work performance, and allocating resources based on department need
- Oversee receiving, warehousing, distribution, and all other day-to-day operations of the warehouse
- Oversee and manage the logistics for transporting products to customers
- Implement operational policies and procedures, optimizing warehouse efficiencies
- Review and prepare workflows, staffing requirements, space allocations, and action plans that meet company standards for productivity, quality, and customer service
- Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by establishing and enforcing standards and procedures and by complying with regulations
- Participate in various meetings and work with other departments to communicate departmental needs to ensure success
- Assist in onboarding and training new team members and current associates
- Identify trends and business needs and proactively initiate changes/improvements necessary to achieve department goals
- Maintain accurate documentation and records of warehouse activities, including inventories
- Responsible for other duties as assigned
What You Bring to the Team: (skills and requirements)
- Bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain management, business administration or equivalent work experience
- 5 years’ experience in management, shipping and receiving, knowledge of the shipping process and inventory
- Proven ability to implement and carry out improvement initiatives
- Ability to operate a forklift effectively
- Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Capable of physical work that includes standing for extended periods of time and lifting packages weighing up to 50lbs
- Effective communication skills, written and verbal
- Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office, Microsoft Outlook, and Adobe Reader.
