Position: Service Director
**About the Company:**
A renowned culinary establishment, located behind a captivating art gallery, is seeking a dynamic Service Director to lead its team. The restaurant is celebrated for its multi-course modern menu, providing an elegant take on contemporary cuisine. With a focus on an exclusive and exceptional dining experience, the restaurant has garnered recognition from the MICHELIN Guide and the New York Times.
The restaurant is celebrated with One Star by the MICHELIN Guide and Two Stars by New York Times Critic Peter Wells, positioning it as an exclusive and exceptional destination in the culinary scene. **Responsibilities:**
**Leadership and Oversight:**
- Lead and oversee the Front of House (FOH) team, including the Dining Room director, Sommelier, and Somm assistant.
- Collaborate with the leadership team on scheduling, hiring, and firing.
**Customer Experience:**
- Ensure an exceptional and exclusive dining experience for guests.
- Implement and maintain high standards of service expected in a fine dining establishment.
**Training and Development:**
- Train and develop both FOH and BOH staff to uphold the restaurant's standards.
- Engage with clients to enhance their dining experience.
**Reservations Management:**
- Utilize a background in reservations to optimize guest bookings and maintain a smooth flow of service.
**Fine Dining Expertise:**
- Bring a strong background in fine dining to elevate the restaurant's status.
- Oversee the open kitchen layout, ensuring 80% of dishes seamlessly reach guests.
**Human Resources:**
- Confidentially assess and address staffing needs, identifying potential areas for improvement.
- Work closely with the team to maintain a harmonious and efficient work environment.
**Scheduling and Administration:**
- Manage the restaurant's schedule from 2 pm to midnight, ensuring proper coverage.
- Oversee the restaurant closure during Sundays, Mondays, and three weeks annually.
**Compensation and Benefits:**
- Offer an annual salary of $120,000 to $140,000.
- Provide healthcare credit of up to $5,000.
- Eligible for 1 week of paid time off (PTO) in the first year and 2 weeks in subsequent years.
**Room for Growth:**
- Communicate potential for growth within the company and an eventual transition to a General Manager role.
**New Opening:**
- Collaborate with the team on a new opening in 2024, embracing a more casual, less fine dining concept with a larger space.
**Uniforms:**
- Ensure all staff receives custom-made suits from the company to maintain a polished and cohesive appearance.
**Qualifications:**
- Proven experience in a leadership role within fine dining establishments.
- Strong background in reservations management.
- Exceptional organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to lead and inspire a team in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
**Work Schedule:**
- 2 pm to midnight; restaurant closed on Sundays and Mondays.
- 3 weeks of annual closure (1 week during Christmas/New Year's and 2 weeks in August).
**Benefits:**
- Annual salary of $120,000 to $140,000.
