Peraton is Hiring a Remote Sr. RF/Antenna Electrical Engineer SME - Space Communications

Responsibilities

We are seeking a Sr. RF/ Antenna Electrical Engineer SME to support the Peraton Space Exploration Networks Services and Evolution (SENSE) contract for our NASA customer based in Greenbelt, MD (GSFC). This position will allow for 100% telework, with travel to the Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, MD and other NASA locations, as needed; a candidate who is local to the GSFC area with ability to travel on site when necessary is preferred. 

As prime contractor on the Peraton Space Exploration Networks Services and Evolution (SENSE) contract, Peraton is responsible for the operation, maintenance, sustainment, and systems engineering of NASA’s worldwide satellite communication networks. Join the SENSE team to support NASA programs that integrate with state-of-the-art RF satellite communications systems and technologies. In this position, you will become part of NASA’s return to the moon, support new earth and space science missions, and launch vehicles. You will be an integral part of a world class team that ensures NASA space-ground communications are reliable and meet mission requirements.

This position will provide RF antenna expertise, in support of NASA ground station development, including the following:

  • Develop and evaluate system requirements and perform system engineering lifecycle design and development.
  • Perform communications analyses including link budget assessments.
  • Develop engineering documentation for the installation of new and/or modification of existing electronic systems that meet defined requirements.
  • Ensure that technical, budget and schedule requirements are met through new or modified designs.
  • Oversee system modifications to ensure implementation is executed according to design documentation.
  • Develop and execute test plans and procedures.
  • Maintain system documentation to accurately reflect the configuration baseline.
  • Provide troubleshooting assistance in isolating and correcting unusual hardware problems.

Qualifications

Required Experience:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Physics, and 16 years of related experience, or a Master's degree and 14 years of related experience
  • 16 years of experience in the following areas:
    • Satellite ground system or other RF communications engineering.
    • RF wireless communications systems definition and analysis, including link analyses.
    • RF satellite communications systems parameters and their impact on RF link performance.
  • Experience with antenna system component-level testing such as waveguide, LNAs, HPAs, antenna control and tracking, etc.
  • The ability to create technical documents and deliver presentations clearly and concisely
  • Security clearance: the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance, which requires a US citizenship

Desired Experience:

  •  A Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or related engineering discipline
  • An active Secret clearance
  • Prior experience working with NASA programs and projects
  • Ability to work under challenging timelines with ambiguity
  • Generate and interpret detailed technical drawings in Visio or AutoCAD
  • Troubleshooting antenna systems out in the field

Target Salary Range

$146,000 - $234,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
