Pepsi Cola Champaign Urbana Bottling Co. is Hiring a Commercial Route Driver - Class A CDL Near Champaign, IL

Commercial Class A Route Driver 
JOB SUMMARY
  1. Pre-Trip and Post Trip must be completed daily.
  2. All out of code and damage to be organized and placed in the warehouse location. All papers and trash need to be removed from the trailer and cab daily.
  3. Lifts must be taken off the truck and stored in the warehouse at the end of the shift. Pallets stacked and organized in the front of the trailer. Shells need to be organized and stacked on pallets. (No double stacked pallets with shells on top).
  4. Drivers must complete the end of day process and send before exiting the truck. All paperwork and money must be accounted for and correctly deposited and turned in upon completing the day.
  1. Routes must be completed in order according to the handheld. If a stop needs to be completed out of order, a supervisor needs to be notified.
  2. Drivers are allowed up to 1 hour of break time. (Example 30-minute lunch and two 15-minute breaks.) This will be automatically deducted from hours worked per company policy.
  3. All orders are to be checked in at the store, signed by a store employee and corrected if there is an error. Any picking errors at restaurants must be reported to a supervisor before leaving the stop.
  4. Products delivered must be neatly placed, rotated, and organized in the proper locations in all coolers, warm shelves, and syrup racks. No 5-gallon BIB should be stacked higher than 4 feet in any account.
  5. Shelves must be filled and faced to our Pepsi standard unless you have been directed differently from your supervisor or store manager.
  6. Drivers must return empty Co2, Jug Water, Shells accurately and in a timely manner. (These are driver issued credits)
  7.  Loads must be checked before the beginning of the day to ensure safe transportation. Drivers need to check load size at the beginning of the day. This will determine the amount of time needed for the day.
  8. Work hours – Monday through Friday 6:30am to 2:30pm.
  9. All stops are to be completed before the end of your shift (3:30pm unless approved for overtime). Overtime will be determined by the amount of stops and cases per day.
  10. Work hours during holiday - weekend holidays vs weekday holidays – holidays that fall on weekdays you are expected to work except (Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s Day)
  11. Commercial Route Driver/Merchandiser will work as part of an “account team”, proactively communicating with other team members to resolve issues.
  12. Route Coverage – if the route you are running is unable to be completed during the normal work week (Monday-Friday) due to an unscheduled absence or the Lead Driver is unable to cover, you will be required to finish the route the following day, even if it falls on a weekend.
REQUIREMENTS
  1. Minimum high school education preferred.
  2. Previous sales, customer service or delivery experience.
  3. Good verbal communication and people skills, including tact and diplomacy.
  4. Possess and maintain a valid and complete Class A Commercial Driver’s License with all DMV, medical and legal clearances to provide for and allow use of said license.
Drivers with any of the following are ineligible for hire or continued employment because they will be declared as uninsurable by our insurance company:
  1. License suspended or revoked in the last 3 years.
  2. Alcohol-related conviction (DWI, open container, etc.) in the last 5 years.
  3. Vehicular homicide, assault, or manslaughter conviction.
  4. “Hit and Run” or “leaving the scene” conviction.
  5. Reckless Driving conviction
  6. Careless Driving conviction.
  7. Financial responsibility filing
  8. No valid license for state of residence
  9. Speeding in excess of 20 mph conviction in the last 3 years.
  1. Ability to perform physical functions which will include the lifting and moving of 50 pounds or more and pulling cart with load weighing up to 220 pounds.
  2. Applicant must be physically able to lift 31 to 40 pounds about sixty times per hour; 11 to 20 pounds about 20 times an hour over 50 pounds is around six times an hour.
  3. Prolonged sitting, standing, twisting, and bending.
  4. Physical mobility to make frequent trips from vehicle to customer premises.
  5. Ability to promote a positive, professional image of Pepsi-Cola.
  6. Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
  7. Sufficient math skills to effectively handle monies and account for these at end of day.
  8. Ability to safely operate lift-gate, power jack, and forklift.
  9. Manual dexterity to operate handheld computing devices.
  10. Good decision-making capabilities.
  11. Ability to speak, read, and writes the English language.
