    Job Summary: Peoria Unified School District’s (PUSD) Office of Research and Planning is responsible for conducting a variety of analytic research activities, including: the evaluation of education-related programs; analysis of student outcomes data; design and implementation of survey methodologies and questionnaire development; conducting technical analysis of district assessment efforts; administration of state and national assessments.
    Essential Functions: Essential functions, as defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include, but are not limited to, the following tasks, duties, knowledge, skills and other characteristics. This list is ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY and is not a comprehensive listing of all functions and tasks performed by incumbents in this class.
    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES generally include the following. Other duties may be assigned:
    • Prepares and maintains district and state assessment materials and schedules for testing implementation. Serves as a liaison to school sites regarding questions and information for district and state testing. Accurately and appropriately documents and tracks assessment information at the district level for the district’s school sites. Responds to schools’ requests for assistance, data, training, and additional assessment information. Maintains confidentiality requirements of all assessment information.
    • Sets up, monitors, and maintains accurate records of department budgets, service agreements, licensing agreements, requisitions, purchase orders, and payroll actions
    • Works with staff in the Office of Research, Planning, and Assessment to verify state testing results and student demographic data
    • Works with the Coordinator of Testing Programs to ensure the successful administration of all assessments overseen by the department.
    • Supports the loading and maintenance of the district data reporting system.
    • Reviews and utilizes a wide variety of student testing data & information, reviews and analyzes student progress and/or program effectiveness data
    • Designs, maintains, and utilizes research databases in support of research activities
    • Validates, maintains, updates research databases in support of research activities
    • Compares data to authoritative sources and references to determine accuracy, validity, and reliability of information for use by other areas of the organization
    • Collaborates and supports original research in areas related to education and student learning
    • Works with department in analysis and verification of AYP and State Accountability Measures
    • Performs other duties as assigned
    KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
    • Knowledge of research design, methods, and practices
    • Knowledge of statistical analysis methods and practices
    • Knowledge of database management and data processing techniques
    • Experience with database management, data processing techniques, and data processing programs such as MS-Access and/or SQL Server
    • Working knowledge of at least one statistical software program such as SPSS, SAS
    • Working knowledge of Windows and MS Office Excel
    • Some knowledge of at least one type of programming and/or data access language (visual basic, C# , SQL...etc.) within the ASP.Net Framework desirable
    • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relations with co-workers, vendors, students, parents, the public and others having business with the school district.
    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor degree from an educational institution in education, mathematics, statistics, or related fields is preferred. Regardless, candidates must have academic coursework beyond introductory level in statistics, mathematics, and/or research methods. Other degree programs may be considered if coursework includes the above analytic content. Considerable working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and at least one statistics-oriented software program (i.e., SPSS/SAS) is desired. Applicants must possess excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills.
