Responsibilities

• Follows safety guidelines with all procedures performed in the laboratory and patient areas, including checking two patient identifiers before collecting any specimen, labeling specimens in the presence of the patient, following all handwashing directives, and utilizing all safety equipment in an appropriate manner.
• Performs blood collection from patients of all age groups and performs related techniques including glucose tolerance tests and blood cultures.
• Collects blood, processes specimen, and performs reference laboratory processing.
• Assists in determining the suitability of donors.
• Sets up, disconnects, and operates the automated plasmapheresis machines.
• Disconnects and disposes of all contaminated disposable equipment.
• Monitors test ordering patterns and requisitions to ensure compliance with outpatient laboratory testing
• Performs and processes other phlebotomy-related procedures accurately and within expected response times

Qualifications

• CPR certification or must obtain at next available class upon hire
• High school diploma or its equivalent
• Interpersonal skills necessary in order to carry out duties in a professional manner, as well as the ability to work well under stress.
• Ability to provide quality, error-free work in a fast-pasted environment
• 18 years old and above
• Proof of COVID vaccination
• Ability to pass a criminal background check
• Willingness to be trained
