Peony Medical Center is Hiring a Phlebotomy Technician Near Houston, TX

Role Description

Responsibilities

  • Identifies, processes, and distributes test specimens.
  • Assists with sample logging and acts as a contact between drug reps and the MD/Office Manager.
  • Collection of blood specimens from various patient types using defined venipuncture and capillary puncture techniques. Status recording of the collection date and time in the Laboratory Information System.
  • Monitors vital signs and spot oximetry.
  • Handles medical supplies inventory and equipment, as well as a drug sample closet.
  • Assigns the proper amount of specimen to the proper tubes for the various assays and panels.
  • Accesses computer for patient reports enters current medication list for patients and fills out documents as asked or required.
  • Verifies patient and specimen identification with two identifiers before performing any procedure.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED Required
  • Proof of COVID vaccination
  • 18 years of age or older
  • Current CPR certificate is recommended
  • Interpersonal skills necessary in order to carry out duties in a professional manner, as well as the ability to work well under stress.
  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand English as needed for the job
  • Physical endurance
