Job Overview Summary/Objective The Assistant Service Advisor initiates automotive services and repairs by ascertaining performance problems and services requested, verifying warranty and service contract coverage, developing estimates, writing repair orders, and maintaining customer rapport and records.
Essential Functions - Determines automotive problems and services by listening to customer's descriptions of concerns, clarifies descriptions of problems, conducts inspections, takes test drives, checks vehicle maintenance records, and examines service schedules
- Verifies warranty and service contract coverage by examining records, and explains provisions and exclusions
- Develops estimates by costing materials, supplies, and labor, and calculates customer's payment, including deductibles
- Prepares repair orders (RO) by describing concerns, problems, and causes discovered, as well as repairs and services required, obtains approval signatures, and enters RO into the service database system
- Maintains customer relationships by explaining estimates and expected return of the vehicle, and obtains customer's approval of estimates
- Obtains and provides contact telephone numbers, answers questions and concerns, arranges towing and temporary transportation
- Maintains automotive records by recording problems and corrective actions planned
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, and reads manufacturers' publications
- Attends pertinent training on request
- Enhances company's reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; explores opportunities to add value to job accomplishments

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work Standard Business Hours with the ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as required
Required Education and Experience * High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
* Candidates must have a valid driving license and a clean driving record
Preferred Education and Experience Two to four years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
