POSITION TITLE: Control Draftsman

POSITION DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

As the Control Draftsman, is responsible to plan, direct and layout standard or modify electrical control designs and perform primary responsibilities as specifically described below. This list is not in inclusive, and duties may change as directed by business needs.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Read customer specifications and decipher what controls are needed to create the control drawing package.
• Assist Wire Test to clear any testing issues. 
• Liaise with the shop floor and answer all questions and complaints efficiently and professionally.
• Create processes for Control Engineering and automation for Department 08
• Perform complex Control Engineering (i.e.- interpreting customer specifications, developing new schemes)
• Certify test reports.
• Complete Controls portion on the Table of Contents in the Instruction Books 
• Review design errors and develop system to make corrective and preventive processes.
• Create and review Control Wire Test sheets.
• Review drawings and recommend necessary changes to the shop floor. 
• Perform duties and assignments as directed by management.

• Ability to read basic mechanical drawings and follow them for work to be performed.
• Knowledge and use of hand tools and some specialized tools as required. 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Experience with CAD and drawing software and AutoCAD. 
• In-depth knowledge of transformers, their installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting procedures
• Basic understanding of electricity and how to check voltage.
• Must be able to prepare electrical control drawings including schematics, wiring diagrams, layouts, and associated panels for large core form transformers. 
• Good technical writing, and communication skills 
• Customer service experience required.

PHYSICAL JOB DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit. The employee frequently is required to walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is required to sit for long periods of time. The employee must frequently lift or move objects up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and the ability to adjust focus.

May need a high level of concentration in a busy area.

WORKING CONDITIONS

• Monday through Friday and on-call may be required.
