Nutrition Education Advisor for Penn State Extension Food, Families and Health
The Penn State Extension Nutrition Food Families and Health program is hiring a Nutrition Education Advisor. The Nutrition Education Advisor position recruits and teaches limited income program participants in their assigned service area research-based knowledge and skills, in groups and individually, to use their limited resources to obtain a diet and lifestyles for themselves and their families following the USDA Dietary Guidelines for Americans by using approved state curricula.
Position responsibilities include:

• Teaching research-based education on the skills of healthful food selection, meal planning, food preparation, shopping, storage, food safety and physical activity to program-appropriate audiences.
• Recruiting participants in Delaware County, which include: limited income youth, pregnant women, families with young children and/or other members of the SNAP benefits eligible population.
• Collecting evaluation data from participants to demonstrate the program impact to the federal funding agencies.
• Supervising educator for training, planning, program delivery, communication, evaluation, and reporting of program activities.

This position offers a flexible work arrangement that combines remote and on-campus work. Questions related to flexible work should be directed to the hiring manager during the interview process.
Education and Experience:
This job will be filled as an Extension Assistant level 1 or 2, depending upon the successful candidate's competencies, education, and experience. Typical requirements for level 1 include a High School Diploma or higher or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Additional experience and/or education and competencies are required for higher level jobs.
This position requires the following clearances: PA State Police Criminal Background Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form, and Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check. This position requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties. A valid driver's license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to clearances.
