SIRO is looking for a Multidisciplinary Proposal Developer (Proposal and Awards Generalist 3). This position will provide proposal development support services to a diverse community of faculty and staff and report to the SIRO Associate Director, Proposal Development.
Responsibilities: As a member of a cross-functional team that includes faculty researchers, proposal developers, research administrators, and project managers, the individual in this position will provide proposal development services to both faculty and administrator teams as they develop complex multidisciplinary research projects and proposals in response to federal and foundation funding opportunities.
There are two primary functions for this position:

The Multidisciplinary Proposal Developer will be highly engaged in team communications that occur throughout proposal development to ensure timely and effective submissions. Good management, communication, and technical writing skills are essential. This position provides a range of services as needed on specific proposals. These services include:
  • Coordinating and providing innovative ideas/writing, gathering data, identifying resources, and editing of non-technical sections.
  • Providing support for technical sections as requested.
  • Developing strategies in coordination with SIRO's multimedia specialists to enhance messaging/presentation of data and facts through the addition of graphics, figures, and other visuals.
  • Coordinating and planning meetings with the research team and developing proposal development roadmaps, identifying deliverables, and coordinating timelines to meet proposal submission deadlines.
  • Coordinating communications between primary and co-primary investigators within and external to Penn State.
  • Coordinating as well as self-participation in peer (red team) reviews of proposals prior to finalization and submission.
This is a limited-term appointment funded for one year from date of hire with a good possibility of renewal.
This position may be eligible to work in a hybrid model or fully remotely.
Education and Experience: This position requires an associate degree or higher plus two years of related proposal development or other technical writing and editing experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
