Pennsylvania School for the Deaf is Hiring an Elementary Teacher Aide Near Pennsylvania School for the Deaf, PA
Reports to: Elementary and Middle School Principal Employment Information: A Full-Time 10-month Bargaining Unit position. Position Summary:Provide a variety of direct and indirect services to the students. The aide may be assigned to a teacher or team of teachers on a long- term basis. Co-teach, tutor, story tell, prep materials and all other tasks assigned by the teachers towards the implementation of the educational program. Must have Intermediate American Sign Language Compentence. Qualifications:At least a high school diploma. An Associate’s Degree from an accredited college/university is preferredLevel 2 (or above) ASLPI rating sign competence preferred. Advanced sign competence preferredSome background or experience in an educational setting is preferredDuties and Responsibilities:Assist teachers with the implementation of instructional plansAssist teachers with the development of instructional materials and creating and maintaining a constructive classroom environmentEngage in professional development in order to meet Paraeducator standardsSubstitute for teacher(s) in the class/team during teacher absence, as neededAssist with supervision of students (e.g., on trips, at lunch etc.)Provide meaningful and interactive language experiences with students under the direction of the teacherProvide appropriate support to students in their growth and development (e.g., academic, social skills, etc.)Participate in team, cluster and school-wide meetingsOther duties and responsibilities as assignedPhysical Demands:Sitting, standing, walking, frequent bending, crouching, reaching, stoopingLifting and moving of lighter objects such as books, chairs, student desksManual dexterity skills for using office equipmentAbility to read and attend to computer screens for long periods of timePSD is committed to the full inclusion of all qualified individuals.
