Job Summary:
This position is responsible for the coordination and management of the PA Game Commission's statewide black bear program. The black bear biologist is responsible for black bear research, management, and population monitoring statewide. Serve as principal investigator for black bear studies, and the agency's technical advisor on black bears in Pennsylvania

Duties:
- Conduct research experiments using various techniques and methodologies, such as molecular biology, spectroscopy, Western blotting, ELISA, and tissue culture.
- Perform data analysis and interpretation to draw meaningful conclusions.
- Maintain accurate records of experimental procedures, results, and observations.
- Collaborate with team members to design and execute research projects.
- Stay updated with the latest advancements in the field of biology and incorporate new techniques into research protocols.
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized laboratory environment.
- Present research findings at conferences or in scientific publications.

Experience:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Biology or a related field.
-Experience working with black bears in research or as work experience
- Strong communication and public speaking skills
- Experience with aseptic technique and working in a sterile environment.
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
- Effective communication skills to present findings and collaborate with colleagues.

This position is based in our Harrisburg, PA office with a hybrid work-from home schedule of 3 days in the office and 2 telework days. This position will also require a standard amount of field work across the state of Pennsylvania. A work vehicle will be provided when traveling for work-related events.
